That $675 Garmin deal was real, but it was a historical offer—not a verified current price. Android Headlines reported the Garmin epix Pro (Gen 2) Sapphire Edition at $675 on July 25, 2025, against a $999.99 list price. The likely model was the 47mm Carbon Gray DLC titanium version with a black band. As of August 18, 2026, retailer listings show different prices, sizes and stock status, so check the exact seller and checkout price before buying.
What the $675 deal actually meant
The July 25, 2025 deal report linked to a 47mm Garmin epix Pro (Gen 2) Sapphire Edition. At $675 versus the stated $999.99 list price, the reduction was $324.99, or about 32.5%. The reference price was MSRP, not proof that every retailer had been charging $999.99 immediately before the deal. The original report is at Android Headlines.
Price checked: August 18, 2026. The $675 offer is a historical price snapshot. Current prices and stock vary, and a page that remains online does not mean its displayed deal is available to order.
| Retailer listing | Configuration | Price/status observed | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Target | 47mm Sapphire | $999.99; in stock | Listing observed August 18, 2026; verify checkout price and seller details. |
| Best Buy | 47mm Sapphire | $499.99 displayed; sold out | A displayed price is not an available offer while the item is sold out. |
| Walmart | Variant page includes 51mm and 42mm Sapphire examples | $614.99 for 51mm; $579.99 for 42mm | These are different sizes from the likely 47mm deal configuration; check selected variant, condition and marketplace seller. |
These retailer observations are not a like-for-like comparison: size, seller, condition and availability can differ. Confirm whether an item is new, refurbished, restored or open-box, and review warranty and return terms before placing an order.

How to identify the right epix Pro
Case size and finish
The deal was apparently for the 47mm Sapphire model, with a Carbon Gray DLC titanium bezel, black band, AMOLED display and sapphire lens. The epix Pro (Gen 2) family also comes in 42mm and 51mm versions. The 47mm is the middle-size option; the 42mm suits smaller wrists, while the 51mm is larger and has the longest stated smartwatch battery maximum.
What Sapphire adds
Garmin’s product comparison identifies the Sapphire Edition additions as a sapphire crystal lens, multi-band positioning and preloaded TopoActive maps. The Pro Standard Edition already has multi-band technology and the built-in LED flashlight; the Sapphire premium is not required to get the light. Standard models use a non-sapphire lens, and downloadable maps may still be available on non-Sapphire models. Check the specific SKU because materials, included maps, colors and prices vary by configuration. See Garmin’s Sapphire Edition product information.

What the built-in flashlight can—and cannot—do
The epix Pro’s wrist-mounted LED is handy for short tasks: a night walk or run, finding keys in a dark room, checking gear at camp, reading a map briefly, or getting light during a short power outage. The manual also describes adjustable brightness and color, including red-light use when preserving night vision is preferable. It is a convenience light, not a replacement for a high-output flashlight or headlamp, and using it consumes battery.
Turn on the light
- Hold LIGHT.
- Select the flashlight icon.
- Press START if needed.
- Use UP or DOWN to adjust brightness or color.
For quick activation from any screen, press LIGHT twice.

Strobe and distress pattern
- For strobe, hold MENU, select Strobe, choose a mode and press START.
- For the distress pattern, hold MENU, select Distress Pattern and press START.
Garmin’s distress pattern flashes a programmed signal and can display configured emergency information; it does not contact emergency services or emergency contacts and is not an SOS communicator. Strobe and distress patterns may also be unsuitable for people sensitive to flashing lights. Menu names can vary with software. The Garmin owner’s manual documents the controls and limitations.
What you get beyond the flashlight
Display and construction
The 47mm model pairs a 1.3-inch AMOLED display with touchscreen controls and physical buttons. AMOLED offers vivid color and strong contrast, including for maps and watch faces; the always-on option is convenient but uses more power. Sapphire is highly scratch-resistant, not scratch-proof or indestructible. Retailer listings identify a fiber-reinforced polymer case, titanium bezel and 32GB storage. The watch is compatible with Android and iOS.

Training, navigation and everyday features
The epix Pro is built around sports and outdoor use rather than phone-style apps. Its feature set includes multi-band GPS, turn-by-turn and breadcrumb navigation, TopoActive maps on Sapphire models, Hill Score, Endurance Score, Training Readiness, HRV status, sleep tracking, wrist-based heart-rate monitoring, running power, PacePro and Garmin Coach. It also supports Garmin Pay, music storage and streaming-service support, and smart notifications. Multi-band positioning can be useful among tall buildings, in canyons or under forest cover, but it uses more battery than simpler GPS modes.
Pulse Ox availability varies by country. ECG availability is subject to regional and age restrictions noted on the Target listing. Garmin’s health measurements are wellness estimates, not diagnoses, and the watch is not a medical device.

Battery expectations by size
| Case size | Manufacturer’s maximum in smartwatch mode | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 42mm | Up to 10 days | Garmin product page |
| 47mm | Up to 16 days | Garmin product page |
| 51mm | Up to 31 days | Manufacturer maximum stated for the size family; cited product pages above cover 42mm and 47mm. |
These are manufacturer maximums, not typical guarantees. Always-on display, GPS workouts, music, sensors, notifications, Pulse Ox, Wi-Fi and flashlight use can reduce runtime; frequent workouts and display settings matter particularly for real-world endurance.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the epix Pro still worth buying in 2026?
It can be a strong choice at a substantial discount for someone who will use its training metrics, navigation, multi-day battery and AMOLED screen. It is an older generation by 2026, however, so the right decision depends on the actual price and condition—not the 2025 headline. At or near the $999.99 list price, compare it with newer Garmin models before committing, especially if a longer software-support horizon or the latest platform matters to you. A small discount is less persuasive than a genuinely deep one.
Quick Recap
Good fit
- Runners, triathletes and multisport athletes who want extensive training metrics.
- Hikers and backcountry users who value maps and multi-band positioning.
- Buyers who prefer AMOLED but do not want to charge every day.
- People who will use physical buttons, rugged construction and the handy short-task flashlight.
Look elsewhere if
- You mainly want calls, messaging, broad apps or a connected-watch experience; Apple Watch or Wear OS may fit better, though they generally require more frequent charging.
- You need cellular connectivity or emergency satellite messaging; the flashlight’s distress pattern supplies neither.
- You want the lightest or thinnest watch, or a smaller case than the chosen model offers.
- Your priority is the newest Garmin platform, maximum battery with a simpler display, or a brighter light for prolonged outdoor use.
Which alternative fits a different priority?
| Alternative | Consider it when | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Newer Garmin flagship | You prioritize the current platform and a longer likely support horizon. | Usually costs more; compare the actual feature and price gap. |
| Garmin Forerunner AMOLED model | You want a lighter, running-first watch. | Typically less rugged and less expedition-oriented. |
| Garmin Instinct line | You prioritize battery life and rugged simplicity. | Less suited to buyers seeking AMOLED, detailed mapping or a premium titanium-and-sapphire feel. |
| Apple Watch or Wear OS | You want richer smart-device integration, apps and communications. | Generally a weaker fit for multi-day battery and Garmin’s training ecosystem. |
| Dedicated headlamp | You need brighter, hands-free illumination for extended outdoor use. | It is separate gear, not an integrated watch feature. |
Before you buy
- Confirm whether you want 42mm, 47mm or 51mm; do not assume a listing’s selected size from its title.
- Check Sapphire versus Standard. The flashlight is included on Pro Standard models too.
- Verify exact color, band, model number, lens and whether the watch is new, open-box or refurbished.
- Check who sells and fulfills a marketplace listing, plus warranty coverage and the return window.
- Confirm the selected variant’s final cart price and stock; old deal pages and displayed sold-out prices are not live offers.
- Check local availability of ECG and Pulse Ox if those features matter to you.
