The Garmin Venu 3 has the clearer published advantage in one area: battery endurance. Garmin estimates up to 14 days in smartwatch mode, while Samsung’s Galaxy Watch6 specification sheet gives battery capacities—not a directly comparable runtime in days. That is a manufacturer maximum, not a promise of two weeks for every Venu 3 owner.
Which watch has better battery life?
Garmin lists up to 14 days in smartwatch mode for the Venu 3. That estimate appears in Garmin’s August 30, 2023 announcement and its owner manual, version 8, dated December 2025. Garmin describes it as a maximum; enabled features and conditions affect actual runtime.
Samsung’s US Galaxy Watch6 specification sheet lists battery capacities of 300 mAh for the 40 mm model and 425 mAh for the 44 mm model. Capacity alone does not establish how many days either size lasts, so those figures cannot be directly compared with Garmin’s runtime estimate. The available specifications support a clear published endurance claim for Garmin, but not a precise days-long head-to-head result.

The Venu 3 has a speaker and microphone, and Garmin says it can handle calls and texts when paired with a compatible Apple or Android smartphone. It is not a standalone substitute for a phone connection.

The Watch6’s broader phone-connected feature set and LTE model options may suit buyers prioritizing smartwatch connectivity and Samsung’s health tools. Feature access depends on the model, phone and region; LTE availability also depends on choosing an LTE version and its service arrangements.
Phone compatibility and feature requirements
Garmin says Venu 3 calls and texts work when the watch is paired with a compatible Apple or Android smartphone. Its announcement does not establish that every phone supports every feature, so confirm compatibility for the functions you intend to use.

For the Galaxy Watch6, Samsung’s US sheet says Galaxy Wearable and Samsung Health compatibility requires Android 10 or later and at least 2 GB of RAM. The ECG Monitor App specifically requires a Samsung Galaxy phone. That makes phone choice especially important if ECG access is a deciding factor; check Samsung’s regional support information before buying.
Size, fit and water rating
The Watch6 specification sheet covers 40 mm and 44 mm models. Garmin’s manual distinguishes the Venu 3 from the smaller Venu 3S: it estimates up to 14 days in smartwatch mode for Venu 3 and up to 10 days for Venu 3S. Do not apply the 3S figure to the Venu 3. Garmin lists swim use and a 5 ATM rating in the manual.

Choose based on how the case sits on your wrist as well as the display size you prefer. The cited Samsung sheet gives the two case diameters but does not provide a directly comparable battery-runtime figure; Garmin’s estimate is for the Venu 3, not the 3S.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Health features are not medical diagnoses
Neither watch should be treated as a diagnostic device. Garmin says the Venu 3 is not a medical device intended to diagnose or monitor medical conditions. Samsung says its features are not intended to diagnose or treat medical conditions, and its ECG app is not a replacement for diagnosis or treatment by a healthcare professional.

How to choose between them
- Choose the Venu 3 if fewer charging interruptions and Garmin’s published maximum of up to 14 days in smartwatch mode are central to your decision, or if its sports, sleep and wheelchair-specific features better fit your routine.
- Consider the Galaxy Watch6 if Wear OS, LTE model availability, BIA measurements or Samsung’s connected-watch features matter more—and your phone and region meet the requirements for the functions you want.
- Check before checkout: phone compatibility, regional health-feature support, model size, whether you need LTE, and current local pricing. Garmin’s $449.99 figure was the Venu 3 series’ suggested retail price at its August 30, 2023 launch, not a current-price quote.
Neither manufacturer’s cited materials provide an independent head-to-head accuracy statistic or comparative user study. For this comparison, the substantiated distinction is the published battery estimate, not a measured claim that one watch tracks health or fitness more accurately.
