The Gavox Avidiver is a 43 mm, 200 m automatic that mixes pilot-style readability with a diver’s water resistance. Its defining feature is an orange triangle that moves inside the dial while the printed outer ring stays fixed. It is a clever and legible watch, but it is large and thick, and its small crowns draw complaints. Before you compare specs, check which generation you are looking at. The original Avidiver and the later Avidiver II GMT models are not the same watch.
What the Avidiver’s inner bezel actually does
The Avidiver does not have a rotating outer bezel. The marked outer scale is fixed. The orange triangle sits inside the dial and is moved with the upper crown, as Robert-Jan Broer explained in his October 2016 Fratello review.
Reviewers describe two uses:
- Elapsed time. Time+Tide’s Cameron Wong (August 2018) describes using the triangle as a countdown or count-up timer. Fratello likewise calls it a dive-time marker.
- A second time zone. Both reviews also describe it as a reference marker for another zone.
The original model has no separate 24-hour GMT hand. Fratello specifically notes there is no 24-hour indication. On the original, the triangle is therefore a reference mark you set by hand, not a true GMT complication. The later Avidiver II GMT variants in Gavox’s shop are a different proposition, so check their specifications separately.
Design, legibility and movement
Gavox’s 2024 catalogue promises “perfect legibility”. That is marketing language, but Worn & Wound’s description supports the idea: a sandwich dial, luminous markers and an inner-ring layout that keeps the face uncluttered.

Is the Avidiver too big?
It has real wrist presence. At 43 mm wide and nearly 13 mm thick, it is a substantial watch. Reviewers differ on how it wears:

- Worn & Wound: the case had substantial presence but did not overwhelm the reviewer’s 6.75-inch wrist. The sharply downturned lugs sometimes dug into the skin.
- Dialicious (owner, July 4, 2024): warns that the 43 mm width, near-13 mm thickness and 102 g weight may be a “No Go” for some buyers.
These are individual impressions, not a measured finding about all wrists. The 50.8 mm lug-to-lug is the number to check against your wrist, since curved lugs that overhang a flat or small wrist are what cause digging. If you can, try one on before buying.

The silicone strap
Opinions are mixed. Fratello found the strap comfortable and soft but said it attracted dust. Worn & Wound also called it soft and flexible, and suggested the watch could work with a single-pass nylon strap or a two-piece leather strap. The 22 mm width suits that kind of swap on the original model, but confirm the end shape on your version first, since the strap is integrated. Gavox’s shop also lists a bracelet accessory. Compatibility depends on the exact case and version.

- THE HAWKER HUNTER RETROGRADE: The Retrograde Chronograph pays suitable tribute to the famed jet without being cluttered and fussy in its carefully considered design. The Retrograde edition seemingly brings the instrument panel and cockpit of the Hawker Hunter to the wrist of the wearer with a homage and representation that is still utterly practical and balanced as a timepiece.
- CHRONOGRAPH MOVEMENT: Built from the cockpit, styled for your wrist - a stylish men's watch with Japanese Quartz Chronograph movement, 10 Minutes Retrograde and Date

The small crowns
Time+Tide found the small crowns and their surrounding guards difficult to operate. That matters here because the upper crown moves the triangle, which is the watch’s signature feature. It is a practical drawback to weigh against the clever layout.
Buying: variants, price and availability
Gavox’s shop currently lists several Avidiver family products. They include an EURORSA model with stainless bracelet, an EURORSA silicone-strap version and Avidiver II GMT variants. Prices shown for several models ranged from €600 to €1,049 when the page was checked, and some listings were marked sold out. Both price and stock change and vary by variant. Fratello’s 2016 prices (€700 and €650) are historical, so don’t compare them with today’s.

Quick Recap
Who it suits
- Good fit: buyers who want a 200 m watch with a distinctive, easy-to-read dial. They should be comfortable with a thick, 43 mm case and a hand-set marker rather than a true GMT hand.
- Look elsewhere: anyone with a small or flat wrist, anyone who wants a slim profile, and anyone who wants a true GMT hand. In that last case, look at the Avidiver II GMT or another watch.
Before buying, check these points:
- Which generation and reference you are looking at
- Your wrist against the 50.8 mm lug-to-lug
- Whether any bracelet or replacement strap fits that version
- Current price, stock and the seller
