The Grand Lady Kalla is a high-jewellery set built so one watch can be worn four ways. It is not a wristwatch with stones added afterwards. The watch and a separate jewel piece each move between a three-row rivière-style bracelet and a sautoir necklace, and Vacheron Constantin calls the change “entirely tool-free”. The monochrome diamond, onyx and Akoya pearl version debuted in 2024. The emerald, ruby and sapphire interpretations followed in a November 2025 release, and the official collection page now shows all four gemstone directions.
What the set consists of
Each Grand Lady Kalla has four elements:
- a fully gem-set watch;
- a separate jewel piece;
- a three-row rivière-style bracelet;
- a sautoir necklace with a tassel.
Either the watch or the jewel piece can be fitted to the bracelet or to the sautoir. That gives four wearing configurations: watch on bracelet, watch on sautoir, jewel on bracelet, and jewel on sautoir. Vacheron Constantin describes the exchange as tool-free. The November 2025 press release, as reproduced by Europa Star, says hidden locking mechanisms allow the swap in moments.

The conversion is a mechanical-fitting feature of the jewellery, not a watch complication. The movement does nothing to enable it.
Heritage and timeline
Vacheron Constantin says the Grand Lady Kalla is based on the Kalla of 1980, which descends from the Kallista of 1979. Its collection page says the 2024 piece honours the Greek word “kallista”, meaning “the most beautiful”. The brand also links the convertible idea to a 1924 pendant model that turned into a brooch.

- 2024: the original monochrome design of diamonds, white Akoya pearls and black onyx, with a watch and tassel sautoir wearable in four ways.
- November 2025: the coloured chapter, pairing diamonds with emeralds in 950 platinum, or with rubies or sapphires in 18K white gold.
The coloured versions are therefore an extension of a 2024 launch, not a new 2026 debut.

The centre stones
According to the same release, each coloured bracelet carries 103 diamonds and eight coloured stones in its central row. The separate jewel piece has a sugarloaf-cut central coloured stone certified by SSEF. The centre stone weighs 2.54 carats on the sapphire, 2.45 carats on the ruby and 1.95 carats on the emerald.

The watch runs on quartz Calibre 1212, which is 11.3 mm in diameter and 2.5 mm thick, with 85 components and six jewels. The case measures 19.4 × 30.1 mm and is 8.3 mm thick. The release gives these specifications in its sapphire section. Treat them as documented for that variant rather than confirmed for every reference.

The Vacheron Constantin Heures Créatives 2025–26 catalogue lists a diamond-set Grand Lady Kalla, reference 1208J/118G-H094. It has the same Calibre 1212, a white-gold watch element of 19.4 × 30.1 mm, a jewel element of 16.8 × 30.1 mm, 272 diamonds (about 45.66 carats) and four self-interchangeable elements. That reference belongs to the diamond-set specification, so it should not be assumed for the emerald, ruby or sapphire sets.
Who this suits
Quartz is a deliberate fit here. A slim, light, gem-covered watch has little room for a mechanical movement, and the product is judged as jewellery first. Buyers wanting horological complexity should look elsewhere in the Vacheron Constantin range. Buyers wanting one high-jewellery set that goes from wrist to neckline will find the point of the design here. I found no directly comparable convertible model confirmed from other houses, so I have not forced a comparison.
