The black ceramic and titanium Girard-Perregaux Casquette 2.0, reference 39800-32-001-32A, launched in 2022 at EUR 4,700, CHF 4,500 or USD 4,700, according to Monochrome Watches’ launch coverage. Those are historical launch prices, not current resale values. Girard-Perregaux’s official page currently lists the reference as sold out. Limited to 820 pieces, it revives the distinctive Casquette as a modern digital quartz watch rather than a conventional analog luxury timepiece.
What is the Casquette 2.0 Limited Edition?
Reference 39800-32-001-32A is the 2022 black ceramic and titanium version of the Casquette 2.0. Girard-Perregaux says the original Casquette was produced from 1976 to 1978, with 8,200 examples made. The modern edition is limited to 820 pieces. The brand’s collection chronology identifies this ceramic-and-titanium edition as the 2022 model, separate from the Saint Laurent 01 introduced in 2023 and Titanium & Gold edition introduced in 2024.
The design’s signature is an angled, tubular digital display. Its red LED readout appears when activated rather than remaining continuously illuminated. Girard-Perregaux describes this on-demand operation as a way to preserve battery life. It gives the watch a different character from either a traditional LCD digital watch or an always-visible analog dial.

| Currency | Reported 2022 launch price |
|---|---|
| EUR | 4,700 |
| CHF | 4,500 |
| USD | 4,700 |
These figures describe launch pricing, not what the watch is worth or sells for today. The official product page currently marks reference 39800-32-001-32A sold out. That status does not establish how many examples are available through independent sellers or what a buyer might pay on the secondary market.
Case, bracelet and proportions
The case is black ceramic, with a titanium caseback and pushers. The bracelet is ceramic with a rubber interior, and it closes with a titanium folding buckle. A sapphire crystal protects the display. Girard-Perregaux lists the case at 42.40 × 33.60 mm and 14.64 mm thick, with water resistance of 50 m.

- Micro Light, Hourly Time Signal, Auto Calendar
- 12/24 Hour Formats
- Dial Code: Digital
- Water Resistant
- Daily Alarm
Those dimensions describe an unusual, sculptural form rather than a conventional round watch, so they do not translate directly into how the watch will feel on every wrist. No hands-on assessment of this reference is available here; buyers should not treat impressions reported for another Casquette edition as testing of this one.
Movement and functions
The quartz GP3980-1474 caliber drives the display. In addition to hours, minutes, seconds, day and date, the watch offers a month, year, chronograph, second time zone and a secret date function. The display is activated on demand through the pushers.

- 36mm pink case
- 8 inch blue strap
- digital dial
- acrylic lens
- water resistant up to 30 meters
Girard-Perregaux says the GP3980 was engineered to correspond faithfully to the original movement and can be fitted to a vintage 1976 Casquette. That compatibility is a detail of the brand’s stated movement design; it does not make the 2022 watch a mechanical reissue.

The launch price places the Casquette in luxury-watch territory, but its proposition is unusual: a sharply recognizable late-1970s digital design, modern ceramic and titanium construction, a complex set of time functions and a limited run of 820. It is best understood as a specialist collector’s watch, not as a conventional analog luxury watch competing on familiar dial, complication or movement criteria.
Rank #4
- RETRO 1980s-INSPIRED ANALOG-DIGITAL DESIGN The Casio AQ-800E-7A reimagines the iconic AQ-450 design from the 1980s with a modern vintage aesthetic. A separate analog dial and LCD display combine classic watch styling with convenient digital functionality, while the grid-pattern dial, simple bar indexes, and angular case create a distinctive retro look.
- SLIM, LIGHTWEIGHT CASE WITH STAINLESS STEEL BAND Measuring 40.7 × 32.1 × 8.7 mm (L × W × H) and weighing 52 grams, the AQ-800E-7A has a slim profile designed for comfortable everyday wear. The case features a resin/chrome-plated construction and resin glass, while the stainless steel band with adjustable clasp fits approximately 150–205 mm wrists.
- DUAL TIME & 1/100-SECOND STOPWATCH Keep track of another time zone with the Dual Time function, while the 1/100-second stopwatch measures elapsed time with a capacity of up to 59 minutes, 59.99 seconds. These practical functions add versatility without taking away from the watch's clean vintage appearance.
- DAILY ALARM, HOURLY TIME SIGNAL & EVERYDAY CONVENIENCE Stay on schedule with a daily alarm and hourly time signal. The watch also features an auto-calendar, 12/24-hour format, and separate analog and digital time displays showing hour, minute, second, PM, month, date, and day.
- WATER RESISTANT & POWERED BY SR920W BATTERY Designed for everyday wear, the AQ-800E-7A features water resistance for routine situations such as rain and hand washing. A SR920W battery provides approximately 3 years of battery life, while quartz accuracy is approximately ±30 seconds per month.
The 2022 reference should also be kept distinct from the later Titanium & Gold Casquette, reference 39800-21-3199-6CM. Fratello Watches reported that model at CHF 4,750 at its October 2024 launch and published hands-on impressions specific to it; neither that price nor those wear observations apply to the black ceramic and titanium 39800-32-001-32A.
