The Gizmo Watch 3 – Adventure (QTAX59G) is a camera-free children’s smartwatch that lets a child call and message parent-approved contacts while a guardian manages settings and location features through Verizon Family. It requires Verizon service, cannot call 911 directly, and Verizon cautions that location availability and accuracy are not guaranteed. Verizon’s battery-life figures are manufacturer claims, not independent test results.
What is the Gizmo Watch 3 – Adventure?
Verizon presents the Gizmo Watch 3 – Adventure as a smartwatch for children ages 6 to 11. Unlike the standard Gizmo Watch 3, the Adventure has no camera. It uses Verizon cellular service for calling, messaging, and location features, with a parent or guardian managing contacts and settings through the Verizon Family app.
It is a controlled communication and location device, not a general-purpose smartwatch or a substitute for a smartphone. Verizon lists School Mode, geofence alerts, and controls for other watch features in its app. Its functions and usefulness depend on Verizon service and the app setup.

Calling, messaging, and parent controls
The watch supports voice calls and messaging, including a QWERTY keyboard and speech-to-text. Parents set up and manage contacts, calls, messages, settings, and location features through the Verizon Family app. Verizon says the Adventure supports up to 20 contacts, including the primary guardian.
Contact permissions are parent-managed, so the watch is intended for communication with approved people rather than arbitrary phone numbers or social-media accounts. Verizon’s Adventure setup guide requires the current Verizon Family app on the guardian, caregiver, and companion smartphone.
It cannot call 911
Verizon says Gizmo Watches cannot call 911 or similar emergency telephone systems. The watch may let a child call designated contacts, but it should not be described or relied on as an emergency phone or as a replacement for access to emergency calling.
Location features and limitations
Parents can manage location features through Verizon Family, including location checks and geofence alerts. Verizon says location depends on carrier coverage and that the watch must be turned on. Verizon makes no representation or warranty about GPS availability or accuracy, or the accuracy or completeness of map information.
For that reason, treat location features as an aid rather than guaranteed real-time tracking. Test the watch and alerts in the places your child regularly visits, and do not assume that a location will always be available or exact.

Verizon service and cost
The watch’s cellular functions require Verizon service. Verizon’s Family FAQ lists Gizmo Watch service at $10 per month, plus taxes and fees. Device prices, promotional credits, and plan conditions can change, so check Verizon’s live listing and confirm the total cost before buying.
Consider the device price, monthly service, taxes and fees, and any applicable purchase or cancellation terms together. A low device price alone does not show the full cost of ownership.
GizmoHub is retiring
Verizon is retiring GizmoHub and directs owners to use the Verizon Family app to maintain access to Gizmo Watch safety features. New owners should use the current Verizon Family app during setup; existing owners should follow Verizon’s migration instructions rather than relying on older setup guides.

Who should consider it?
The Adventure may suit a family that wants a camera-free, parent-managed way for a child to call and message approved contacts, and that is willing to use Verizon service and Verizon Family. It is a poor fit if direct 911 calling, guaranteed location accuracy, camera-based video calling, or carrier flexibility is essential.
