The Grand Seiko Evolution 9 SLGA025 pairs an emerald blue-green Atera Valley-inspired dial with a 40 mm high-intensity-titanium case and the five-day 9RA2 Spring Drive. At 112 g, it brings a notably light build to a substantial 10-bar sports watch. Grand Seiko announced it in Japan on September 2, 2024, with a planned September 7 release.
What makes the SLGA025 an Atera Valley watch?
Grand Seiko draws the dial concept from the Atera Valley in Nagano Prefecture, whose clear waters are known as “Atera blue.” The brand says transparent blue-green gradations evoke the valley’s formation and the flow of time through its summer landscape. The result is a landscape-led dial rather than a conventional flat blue face: color and pressed texture work together to suggest water and terrain.

The dial has a distinctly emerald blue-green appearance in Grand Seiko’s description, but the official sources do not establish how its color shifts in different lighting or provide independent hands-on observations. The UK boutique describes its pressed pattern as inspired by the Shinshu area.
Case dimensions, materials and everyday specifications
SLGA025 uses Grand Seiko’s high-intensity titanium for both case and bracelet. Grand Seiko Australia describes the alloy as 30 percent lighter than steel and highly resistant to rust, corrosion and scratches. The official specification lists the complete watch at 112 g.

The 40 mm diameter gives a useful starting point, but the 47.9 mm lug-to-lug measurement and bracelet fit also matter when judging how it will sit on a wrist. The 22 mm band width and 195 mm bracelet perimeter are published dimensions, not a guarantee of fit for every wearer. Grand Seiko specifies a screw-down crown and allergy-safe metal. The cited official material does not establish clasp micro-adjustment options, so those should be checked in person or with an authorized retailer.
How the 9RA2 Spring Drive works for this watch
SLGA025 is powered by Caliber 9RA2, an automatic Spring Drive movement that can also be wound manually. Grand Seiko states an approximately 120-hour reserve—five days—and accuracy of ±10 seconds per month, or ±0.5 second per day. These are the manufacturer’s specifications, not the result of an independent timing test on an SLGA025.
The power-reserve indicator is on the movement side rather than the dial. Grand Seiko says moving it to the back helps keep the watch’s profile slim. Through the exhibition case back, the 9RA2 is presented with a subtle “Shinshu Frost” concept; its reserve-indicator hand is tempered blue. This placement preserves the dial’s uninterrupted landscape treatment while keeping the remaining reserve visible when the watch is turned over.
What does the SLGA025 cost?
Prices differ by market and should not be compared as if currencies, taxes and retail conditions were interchangeable. The Japan launch price was ¥1,463,000 including tax in 2024; the following are official-market prices shown in sources accessed in 2026.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the SLGA025 worth it?
Its appeal is clearest if the combination matters to you: a landscape-specific blue-green dial, a titanium Evolution 9 case and bracelet, and a long-reserve Spring Drive movement. The published 112 g weight and five-day reserve are practical points in its favor, while the 47.9 mm lug-to-lug length and market-specific luxury pricing deserve consideration alongside the 40 mm diameter.
Comparisons with other Evolution 9 or Spring Drive models should account for dial color and texture, case material and weight, length and thickness, reserve, stated accuracy, water resistance, bracelet and clasp fit, and local price and availability. The official material cited here does not establish independent timing, durability, lume, clasp-ergonomics or long-term ownership results for SLGA025, so those are best treated as open questions rather than assumed strengths.
