The published specifications make them close alternatives, so the practical choice is chiefly which dial you prefer and whether the dimensions suit your wrist.
How the SBGA373 and SBGA375 differ
Grand Seiko describes the SBGA375 as a Heritage Collection watch with a midnight-blue dial in a modernized 44GS-style case. Its US boutique page identifies the SBGA373’s dial as champagne. A 2018 paired-model introduction framed the two colorways as additions to the family; that historical release context does not establish present-day availability.

Choosing between champagne and midnight blue
SBGA373: champagne
The champagne dial is the distinguishing feature of the SBGA373. Choose it if that warmer, lighter color is the look you want. The cited product information establishes the dial color, but does not document how it shifts in different lighting or provide a firsthand assessment of its legibility.
SBGA375: midnight blue
The SBGA375 is the blue-dial option, described by Grand Seiko as midnight blue. It is the more direct choice if you prefer a dark blue face. The same evidence does not establish a specific lighting effect or a comparative legibility advantage over the champagne model.

A practical way to decide
- Compare both dials in person, if possible, under the lighting where you expect to wear the watch.
- Use the shared 40.0 mm diameter, 46.2 mm lug-to-lug length and 12.5 mm thickness as a starting point, then try the case on if fit is uncertain.
- Consider whether the dial color works with the clothes and other watches you wear most often.
What the 44GS-style design means
Grand Seiko says its design language was established with the 44GS in 1967 and describes the SBGA375 as a modernization of that design. The two references share the listed case dimensions, so the dial color—not a documented size difference—is the clearest distinction for a buyer comparing them.

Both models use caliber 9R65, which Grand Seiko lists as Spring Drive, with automatic and manual winding and a power-reserve indicator. The stated reserve is approximately 72 hours. Grand Seiko describes Spring Drive as mainspring-powered and regulated using mechanical, electric and electromagnetic energy; it is not accurate to characterize the 9R65 simply as a quartz-powered movement.

- Supports Quartz 44GS Grand Seiko Cases (19mm lug width only): SBGP017, SBGP001, SBGP003, and SBGP005.
- Supports Non-Quartz 44GS Grand Seiko Cases (19mm lug width only): SBGY009, SBGH281, SBGH279, SBGH277, SBGA375, SBGA373, SBGA387, SBGV239, and SBGA471.
- For all non-quartz 44GS Grand Seikos, proper fitment will require using the supplied 1.2mm spring bars. For quartz 44GS Grand Seikos, 1.8mm spring bars will be provided.
Grand Seiko’s explanation says: “A completely unique caliber, Spring Drive is powered solely by the motive force of a mainspring, as any luxury mechanical watch.” The maker specifies accuracy of ±15 seconds per month, equivalent to ±1 second per day, for these models. That is a manufacturer specification, not an independent measurement of an individual watch.
Availability and listed US prices
When retrieved, Grand Seiko’s US pages displayed USD 5,200 for the SBGA373 and USD 5,600 for the SBGA375. These are regional page prices, not verified transaction prices or a universal current comparison. The SBGA373 boutique page also said “No Longer Available”; availability can differ by market or seller, and the page label is not a guarantee of current stock elsewhere.
