It is not a Grand Seiko manufacturing facility, and several upper-floor areas are invitation-only. For the public Grand Seiko history exhibit, visit the separate Seiko Museum Ginza.
What is SEIKO HOUSE GINZA?
Known for its clock tower, the building is both a Ginza landmark and a site closely tied to Seiko’s history. The familiar tower tops the building inaugurated in 1932. In 2022, Wako’s Main Building was renamed SEIKO HOUSE, and SEIKO HOUSE GINZA officially opened on June 10 that year. Seiko’s official history of the building traces the company’s presence here to 1894, when Kintaro Hattori bought and renovated the Choya Shinbun building at the Ginza 4-chome intersection. His shop moved to the location in January 1895.
The building’s earlier clock tower was dismantled in 1921. Plans for its replacement were interrupted by the Great Kanto Earthquake in September 1923, while foundations were being laid. Construction of the present tower began in 1930; the building was inaugurated on June 10, 1932, Japan’s Time Memorial Day. Seiko says the building survived the January 1945 air raid on Ginza almost unscathed, although three clock-dial panels were damaged. Wako was established in 1947 and returned to the building with the K. Hattori head office in December 1952.
The building was recognized by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry in 2009 as a Heritage of Industrial Modernization property for its significance to consumer culture and Tokyo’s urban development. Seiko lists its height as 39.39 m to the top of the clock tower: 30.30 m to the roof and a further 9.09 m for the tower. The clock dial is 2.4 m in diameter. Its official history also identifies polished Mannari-ishi stone from Okayama Prefecture on the first and second floors, and tapped-finish Mikage-ishi granite from the Korean peninsula on the third floor and above.

What can visitors see inside?
The official SEIKO HOUSE floor guide shows a mix of retail, events, and company spaces. The building is not a general-access factory tour: some floors are restricted, and the availability of exhibitions and events can change.
| Floor | Use and access |
|---|---|
| B1–4F | Wako Ginza specialty store. |
| 5F | Guest Lounge and company offices and conference space; entry by invitation only. |
| 6F | SEIKO HOUSE Hall, used for exhibitions and events. Check the current event listing for what is on. |
| 7F | The Atelier Ginza, jointly operated by Seiko Watch Corporation, Seiko Time Creation Inc., and Wako Co., Ltd.; entry by invitation only. |
| Rooftop | Seiko Sky Garden; the current floor guide lists entry by invitation only. |
At the 2022 opening, Seiko described the rooftop as open to the public at specified times, including for educational events. That launch announcement is not a guarantee of current access: the current floor guide says entry is by invitation only. Follow current event notices rather than assuming the rooftop is open for walk-in visits. Seiko Group Chairman and Group CEO Shinji Hattori described the venue’s aim at the opening as “a place to address various social issues as well as providing an outstanding customer experience.” Seiko Group’s 2022 announcement has further details.
How do you get to SEIKO HOUSE GINZA?
The address on the official access page is 4-5-11 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 104-8105. From Ginza Station, exits A9 or A10 are a short walk; exit B1 provides direct access.
There is a discrepancy between SEIKO HOUSE’s official pages: the access page lists hours of 11:00 AM–7:00 PM, while the overview page currently displays 10:30 AM–7:00 PM. The access page also lists closure for year-end and New Year holidays. Check the access page or contact the venue before making a time-sensitive visit, as hours and access arrangements may change.

Where to see the public Grand Seiko collection
The public Grand Seiko history exhibit is at Seiko Museum Ginza, not inside SEIKO HOUSE. The museum is at 4-3-13 Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 104-0061, a separate address from SEIKO HOUSE. Its Grand Seiko collection page describes an exhibit tracing the brand from its first generation in 1960 to current creations, including development, component manufacture, assembly, adjustment, and inspection.
The museum’s visitor page lists free admission and hours of 10:30 AM–6:00 PM, with closure on Mondays and for New Year holidays; schedules are subject to change. The museum gives priority to visitors with reservations and asks visitors to apply online in advance, so check the live page and reservation availability before going.
Which stop belongs on your Ginza itinerary?
| Stop | Best for | Access and planning |

| SEIKO HOUSE GINZA | Seeing the historic clock-tower building, visiting Wako, or checking out a current exhibition or event. | At 4-5-11 Ginza. Some upper-floor spaces are invitation-only; confirm event details and current hours. |
