The Grand Seiko SBGH267 is a 2018 Heritage Collection limited edition that pairs a 39.5 mm stainless-steel case with the automatic, 36,000-vph Caliber 9S85. Its strongest distinction is the dark-blue anniversary dial, detailed with gold accents, and a blue-and-gold oscillating weight visible through the display back. Grand Seiko limited the steel version to 1,500 pieces. For a pre-owned example, those specifications describe the model—not the present accuracy, condition, or water resistance of the individual watch.
What is the Grand Seiko SBGH267?
Grand Seiko identifies the SBGH267 as a Heritage Collection watch and a Caliber 9S 20th Anniversary Limited Edition. It launched in March 2018 as the steel member of a three-watch anniversary series, with an edition of 1,500 pieces. The other siblings were the platinum SBGH265 V.F.A. (20 pieces) and the 18k yellow-gold SBGH266 Special (150 pieces); those edition sizes and materials make clear that the SBGH267 is the more numerous, steel variant, not one of the precious-metal editions. Grand Seiko’s 2018 announcement listed an approximate European recommended retail price of €6,300 at launch. That is historical launch context, not a current retail or resale valuation.
Case size, construction and wearability
The case measures 39.5 mm across, 47.5 mm from lug tip to lug tip, and 13.0 mm thick. The 47.5 mm lug-to-lug measurement helps put the diameter in context, but fit still depends on wrist shape and preference; the specifications alone cannot establish how the watch feels on a particular wrist. The stainless-steel case has a screw-down crown and a see-through screw case back. The dual-curved sapphire crystal has anti-reflective coating on its inner surface. Grand Seiko lists a weight of 153 g and a 19 mm band width. That width is useful when considering a strap, but does not establish that a particular replacement strap or end link will attach correctly. Grand Seiko’s SBGH267 specifications list water resistance at 10 bar; on an older individual watch, that rating should not be treated as proof of present water resistance without an appropriate inspection.
The blue-and-gold anniversary design
The dial is described by Grand Seiko as “Grand Seiko Blue.” Its radial spiral pattern consists of 80 spun curved lines, with gold-colored GS branding and a gold seconds hand. The dial’s texture and color are the visual centerpiece; the gold details give the anniversary edition a more specific identity than a plain blue-dial variant. These are the maker’s descriptions of the design, rather than independent claims about how the surface looks under every light or viewing angle.

The display back shows a special oscillating weight made from titanium and tungsten. Grand Seiko says the titanium surface is colored blue by anodic oxidation and that the weight carries a gold anniversary inscription and lion emblem. This turns the movement side into part of the edition’s design rather than leaving the special details only on the dial. Grand Seiko’s anniversary design feature explains the weight’s treatment and emblem.
Caliber 9S85: high beat, reserve and accuracy figures
The SBGH267 uses Grand Seiko’s automatic Caliber 9S85, which can also be wound manually. It runs at 36,000 vibrations per hour (5 Hz), has 37 jewels, and is specified with approximately 55 hours of power reserve. The product listing also includes a date display and magnetic resistance of 4,800 A/m. Grand Seiko presents the high oscillation rate as offering greater accuracy potential, while noting the corresponding demands a faster movement places on power reserve and longevity. The 55-hour reserve is the maker’s stated response to that tradeoff; its durability characterization is Grand Seiko’s, not independent long-term reliability evidence. Grand Seiko’s Caliber 9S85 page describes the movement and its design rationale.

Two published accuracy figures refer to different conditions and should not be collapsed into a single promise. Grand Seiko lists a mean daily rate of +5 to -3 seconds per day under its controlled test conditions, and normal-usage accuracy of +8 to -1 seconds per day on the product page. Neither figure establishes how a specific used SBGH267 is performing now; that requires checking the individual watch.
What to check before buying a pre-owned SBGH267
The model’s official specifications cannot establish the condition, originality, service status, or current market value of a particular listing. Before committing, treat the watch as an individual mechanical instrument and verify its details rather than assuming that every example matches a new-watch specification.

- Reference and serial: Confirm that the reference and case-back serial information are consistent with the SBGH267. Grand Seiko lists the serial number as engraved on the case back.
- Condition and originality: Ask whether the dial, hands, oscillating weight, and bracelet are original. Request clear photographs and an explanation of any replacement parts or refinishing.
- Service history and running: Request available service records and, where possible, a recent accuracy assessment for that watch. Do not infer its current rate from Grand Seiko’s published specification.
- Bracelet completeness: Check that the bracelet is included if expected and that the supplied links are sufficient for the intended fit. If buying without the bracelet or considering a strap, verify attachment and end-link compatibility for the exact watch; the 19 mm band-width figure by itself is not a fit guarantee.
- Water resistance: Have a qualified watchmaker assess current water resistance before exposing an older example to water.
- Included items: Confirm which box, papers, spare links, and other accessories are actually included; do not assume they accompany a listing.
Verdict: who is the SBGH267 for?
The SBGH267 makes its case through a balanced combination of a 39.5 mm steel case, a high-beat automatic movement, and anniversary details that are visible on both sides of the watch. It is a particularly distinctive choice for someone who values a detailed blue dial and a movement-side commemorative rotor as much as the underlying mechanical specification. The principal qualification for a buyer is that the model’s published figures are not a substitute for examining the specific pre-owned example: condition, originality, service history, and current water resistance need their own verification.
