SBGR325: Caliber 9S65

These figures describe the movements’ published specifications. The higher beat rate does not, by itself, establish better real-world accuracy, and the longer reserve does not establish how a particular watch will perform in use.
Shared case and practical specifications
Both references use a 37.0 mm stainless-steel case, 13.3 mm thick, with a matching steel bracelet. Each has a dual-curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, 10-bar water resistance and 4,800 A/m magnetic resistance. The shared dimensions and construction make the decision less about case size and more about dial preference and movement priorities.

Two dials inspired by Mt. Iwate skies
Grand Seiko connected both designs to the changing sky above Mt. Iwate, near Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi. The SBGH311’s blue dial evokes a “cloud sea”; the SBGR325’s silver dial represents the sky at its zenith. The company described them as “unique interpretations of the changing sky above Mt. Iwate, where the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi is located.”

Anniversary, quantity and launch availability
Grand Seiko presented the pair in January 2023 as limited editions celebrating 25 years of the Caliber 9S mechanical series, with 1,200 pieces announced for each reference. The company planned boutique and select retail-partner availability from April 2023; that was the original launch plan, not confirmation of present availability.
