Sam Cross’s favourite of the five Tudor releases and updates he covered at Watches and Wonders 2025 was the Pelagos Ultra. In his 12 April 2025 T3 article, he called it his “surprise top pick,” citing its light feel on his wrist. That is Cross’s personal impression—not a universal ranking or an independent test by WatchRanker.
What Tudor presented at Watches and Wonders 2025
Cross’s article covers five Tudor watches: an updated Black Bay Chrono, an opaline-dial Black Bay Pro, a burgundy Black Bay 58, the larger Black Bay 68, and the Pelagos Ultra. They span chronograph, GMT and dive-watch roles. The table separates details documented in Tudor materials from Cross’s reported wrist impressions.
| Watch | What changed or stood out | Published specifications | Cross’s reported impression |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black Bay Chrono | A five-link bracelet joined the available options. | 41 mm steel case, 200 m water resistance and approximately 70 hours of power reserve; three-link or five-link bracelet, both with T-fit clasp. Specifications from Tudor’s 2025 press material. | No distinct wrist impression stated in the article. |
| Black Bay Pro | New opaline dial; the model retained its fixed steel bezel and built-in GMT function. | 39 mm case, fixed steel bezel and built-in GMT calibre, according to Tudor’s 2025 press material. | No distinct wrist impression stated in the article. |
| Black Bay 58, burgundy dial | A new burgundy dial. | Reference M7939A1A0RU: 39 mm steel case, 200 m water resistance, 65-hour power reserve and five-link bracelet with T-fit clasp, per Tudor’s official reference and specifications pages. | No distinct wrist impression stated in the article. |
| Black Bay 68 | A new 43 mm model, listed by Tudor as a 2025 release. | 43 mm case, as described in Cross’s article. Other specifications are not stated in the cited material. | Cross said it wore better on his wrist than he expected; that is personal experience, not a fit guarantee. |
| Pelagos Ultra | A new Pelagos model and Cross’s surprise favourite. | 43 mm titanium case and 1,000 m water resistance, as reported in the T3 article. Those figures are not independently verified here against a separate Tudor press specification. | Cross described it as light and sprightly on his wrist. |
Why the Pelagos Ultra surprised Cross
Cross’s choice was not presented as a measured contest or a recommendation for every buyer. He wrote, “But here it is – release number five and my surprise top pick from the show,” referring to the Pelagos Ultra. His explanation was tactile: despite the 43 mm case, he found the titanium watch light and lively on his wrist. That reaction helps explain his preference, but cannot predict how the watch will feel on another person.
Case diameter alone is an incomplete guide to fit. Wrist shape, how a case sits, bracelet adjustment and personal preference all matter; the available article does not establish a general fit verdict for any of these models.

How the five releases differ in use
For timing: Black Bay Chrono
The Chrono update is primarily a bracelet choice: the five-link option adds an alternative to the three-link bracelet. Tudor’s 2025 material specifies 200 m water resistance and approximately 70 hours of power reserve alongside its 41 mm steel case. The cited details do not establish that the bracelet change alters the watch’s underlying role.
For a second time zone: Black Bay Pro
The Pro keeps its built-in GMT function and fixed steel bezel while offering an opaline dial. Tudor’s cited 2025 material gives a 39 mm case. In this group, it is the release most clearly distinguished by travel-time functionality rather than a new size or a reported fit impression.

- Titanium Unidirectional Rotatable Bezel with Ceramic Matte Black Disc and 60 Minute Scale with Beige Luminescent Coating
For a smaller dive-watch format: burgundy Black Bay 58
The burgundy dial gives the Black Bay 58 update its visible distinction. Tudor’s current reference page identifies the specific version as M7939A1A0RU and lists a five-link bracelet with T-fit clasp, 200 m water resistance and 65-hour reserve. Those details apply to that reference, not automatically to every Black Bay 58 configuration.
For a larger case: Black Bay 68
The Black Bay 68 brings a 43 mm case to the lineup. Cross’s unexpectedly positive reaction to its wearability is useful as one person’s impression, but trying it on remains the way to judge its fit for yourself.

For deep-water capability and lightness: Pelagos Ultra
The T3 article reports a titanium 43 mm case and 1,000 m water resistance for the Pelagos Ultra. Cross’s surprise preference focused on how light it felt to him. The cited material does not provide a like-for-like hands-on comparison across all five watches, so his pick should be read as editorial enthusiasm, not a tested overall winner.

The T3 piece is Sam Cross’s report on five Tudor releases or updates at the 2025 show, published 12 April 2025. Its favourite is subjective. Tudor’s product pages and 2025 press materials provide the specifications noted above for the Chrono, Pro and specific burgundy Black Bay 58 reference; the Pelagos Ultra specifications here are those relayed by Cross. Current availability and configurations may vary, and the article is not a comprehensive buyer test or a complete specification guide.
