The Grand Seiko SBGM255 “Snowdrop” and SBGM257 “Moondrop” are paired Elegance Collection mechanical GMT watches announced in November 2025. They share the same case, movement and core specifications; the choice is chiefly between a patterned white dial with a tempered-blue GMT hand and a textured navy dial with a gold-colored GMT hand.
How the SBGM255 and SBGM257 differ

These are visual variations on a shared watch rather than different movement or case options. Grand Seiko’s SBGM255 page and SBGM257 page describe the respective dials and GMT hands.
What the two watches share
Both are stainless-steel watches in the Elegance Collection, powered by Grand Seiko Caliber 9S66, an automatic mechanical movement with manual winding. The current official specifications list an approximately 72-hour power reserve and a 24-hour dual-time hand.

The case measurements can help with a first-pass fit comparison, but dimensions alone do not establish how either watch will feel on a particular wrist. Both official model pages list the measurements above: SBGM255 specifications and SBGM257 specifications.

How the GMT function works
Grand Seiko describes the 24-hour GMT hand as adjustable to home time or another chosen time zone. The local hour hand can be moved in one-hour increments using the crown at its first click. That makes the watches useful for tracking a second time zone and adjusting local time during travel, without claiming functions beyond those specified by the manufacturer. Accuracy figures and what they mean
Grand Seiko lists a mean daily rate of +5 to -3 seconds per day, measured before casing in a controlled test across six fixed positions. It separately lists normal-usage accuracy of +10 to -1 seconds per day. The first figure is a defined manufacturer test result, not a promise that every watch will run within that range on every wearer’s wrist; the second is the manufacturer’s normal-use specification. The figures appear in the current official specifications for both the SBGM255 and SBGM257.

The Japanese launch announcement is the source for the Japanese tax-included price and release schedule. Fratello’s launch coverage reported the European figure and explicitly noted that its author had not seen the watches in person. Check Grand Seiko or an authorized retailer in your market for current pricing and availability.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose the SBGM255 if you prefer a white patterned dial and the contrast of a blue GMT hand.
- Choose the SBGM257 if you prefer a darker navy dial with a spiral texture and a gold-colored GMT hand.
- Compare them in person if possible if dial appearance or wrist fit is decisive; the published specifications do not establish real-world legibility or comfort.
On the available specifications, neither model has a movement or case advantage over the other. The meaningful distinction is the dial treatment and color scheme, with regional pricing and availability to be checked separately.
