The multi-row bracelet and wearing options

Caliber 9S64: hand-wound, with about three days of reserve
The SBGW305 uses Grand Seiko’s Caliber 9S64, a manual-winding movement with 24 jewels. Its stated power reserve is approximately 72 hours, or three days, when fully wound. The reserve can make the watch easier to leave unworn for a day or two without stopping, but it does not change the ownership routine: this is a hand-wound watch, not an automatic or quartz model.

Grand Seiko publishes two accuracy figures with different conditions. The mean daily rate is +5 to -3 seconds per day under the brand’s controlled pre-assembly measurement conditions. On its US product page, Grand Seiko describes the SBGW305 as “Splash Resistant”; the Japan boutique page characterizes its water resistance as suitable for everyday life. The cited US listing provides no depth rating, so it should not be treated as a dive watch or assigned an implied depth limit. For activities involving immersion, choose a watch whose maker explicitly states a suitable water-resistance rating.

Who should consider the SBGW305?
The SBGW305 makes the most sense for someone who wants a restrained steel dress watch, values a distinctive multi-row bracelet and enjoys the deliberate routine of winding a mechanical watch. Its 37.3 mm case and 44.3 mm lug-to-lug dimensions are useful starting points for evaluating fit, but an in-person try-on is the reliable way to judge how it wears.
Look elsewhere if you need a watch with a stated depth rating for swimming or diving, prefer automatic winding or quartz convenience, or want to choose a leather strap without checking fit details. The key trade-off is straightforward: the SBGW305’s bracelet-led elegance and hand-wound character come with a splash-resistant designation and a winding routine.
