What is the Montblanc Iced Sea 0 Oxygen 38mm?
It is a 38mm stainless-steel automatic dive watch with a date display, unidirectional bezel and a glacier-inspired dial. The name covers several configurations rather than one fixed colour-and-strap combination. Rebecca Doulton’s 2025 launch report for Monochrome Watches described blue and frosty-white versions. Montblanc’s current Colombia product page lists a black-dial model, reference MB136542.

The 2025 report gives the case a 38mm diameter and 12.3mm height. Its stainless-steel surfaces combine brushing and polishing, and it has a domed, box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, screw-down crown and a caseback relief engraving depicting a diver and iceberg. The reported movement is Montblanc’s automatic MB 24.17, based on the Sellita SW200-1; its listed specifications are 26 jewels, 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) and a 38-hour power reserve. These are launch-reported specifications, not measurements from an independent test.
How the dials are made
The 2025 blue and white dials use a textured surface intended to evoke ice. Doulton describes the process: “The dial is decorated using a piece of wood to scratch the surface (gratté boisé), creating the interlocking network of icy crystals that add depth and texture.” Montblanc’s official page for the current black model also describes gratté-boisé as an almost-forgotten technique.

What does “0 Oxygen” mean?
In the launch coverage, the term refers to a case design using a blue seal between the sapphire crystal and the case. The seal is intended to prevent fogging and keep components from oxidising. The cited product information does not specify the case’s residual oxygen level or a chamber-filling process, and it does not provide measured anti-fog results. Treat “0 Oxygen” as Montblanc’s design description, not a quantified performance guarantee.
Which 38mm versions are available?
Monochrome’s April 2025 report identified four combinations. Montblanc’s Colombia listing currently adds a black-dial configuration. The official listing establishes that the black version is offered there, but does not establish availability in every market.

The 2025 references and their specifications come from Monochrome Watches’ launch coverage. The black reference’s configuration and regional price come from Montblanc’s Colombia product listing. Prices reflect different dates, regions and configurations, so they are not a direct like-for-like comparison.

Montblanc’s official Colombia listing for black reference MB136542 states 300 metres of water resistance and conformity with ISO 6425. It also specifies a unidirectional rotating bezel. Those claims apply to the listed black model; the 2025 Monochrome report describes a unidirectional bezel on the blue and white launch variants but does not state their water-resistance rating or ISO conformity. For the black reference, follow Montblanc’s care guidance and ensure the crown is secured before water exposure; a stated rating does not remove the need to maintain seals over time.

How much does the Montblanc Iced Sea 38mm cost?
At launch in 2025, Monochrome reported prices of €3,600 for the steel-bracelet versions and €3,400 for rubber-strap versions. Montblanc’s Colombia storefront listed the black MB136542 at US$5,000 when accessed. The latter is a regional listing and may change; it should not be treated as a worldwide price or directly compared with the euro launch prices as though market, date and configuration were identical.
