The Grand Seiko SBGX115 and SBGX117 are historical quartz diver references powered by the 9F61. A secondary watch article reports that they were discontinued around 2018 and followed by the SBGX335 and SBGX337; no official Grand Seiko discontinuation announcement is established here. The available reference list distinguishes the SBGX115 by its white dial and the SBGX117 by its black dial.
What are the SBGX115 and SBGX117?
They are historical Grand Seiko quartz divers identified in a WatchProSite reference list as using the 9F61 caliber and stainless-steel bracelets. That list associates the SBGX115 with a white dial and the SBGX117 with a black dial. These are secondary-source identifications, not a substitute for checking an individual watch: confirm its reference and caliber on the caseback and compare them with its documentation. WatchProSite’s historical reference list is the basis for those distinctions.
When were they discontinued?
A secondary article says the SBGX115 and SBGX117 were discontinued around 2018 and names the SBGX335 and SBGX337 as the models that followed them. This is that article’s account, not a confirmed official discontinuation date or an official successor announcement. The article reporting the discontinuation does not establish the models’ current market availability.
What does the DIVER’S WATCH 200m marking mean?
Grand Seiko’s official 9F instructions say that a watch marked DIVER’S WATCH 200m can be used for diving with compressed air and withstand pressure to a depth of 200 meters. The instructions state: “The watch is suitable for genuine scuba diving use.” This is general guidance about the marking, not confirmation of the full specifications of either reference or the present water resistance of a particular used watch. Grand Seiko’s 9F handling cautions and instructions also explain how to identify the caliber from the caseback.

What current Grand Seiko references establish—and what they do not
Grand Seiko’s current Watch Finder includes filters for Diver, Quartz, caliber 9F61, and 200m water resistance. Those catalog categories show how the brand organizes current watches; they do not show that the SBGX115 or SBGX117 is still offered. The official collection finder is a catalog reference, not proof of stock for these discontinued models.
The official boutique listing for the SBGX343 describes it as a 9F61 quartz watch with 200m water resistance. It is a current comparison point for that movement and rating, but the listing does not establish that the SBGX343 succeeded the SBGX115 or SBGX117. Grand Seiko’s SBGX343 listing provides the model-specific details for that watch.

What to verify before buying a used example
Live inventory, asking prices, completed transaction values, and the condition or completeness of individual listings have not been established here. Before evaluating a particular watch, check the evidence attached to that specific example rather than relying on the reference name alone.
- Confirm the reference and caliber on the caseback, and compare them with the seller’s documents.
- Check that the bracelet, link count, and included accessories match the listing description.
- Ask for service records and arrange an appropriate water-resistance test before any diving use. A historical 200m marking does not establish that an older watch still meets its original water resistance.
- For concerns about handling or service, consult the retailer or Grand Seiko service network, as directed by the official instructions.
The available sources do not establish production totals, a current market-price statistic, an accuracy figure, or an availability count for the SBGX115 or SBGX117.
