The Grand Seiko SBGX359 and SBGX361 share the same documented core specification: a 33mm stainless-steel Heritage Collection case, quartz Caliber 9F51, 9.1mm thickness and 10-bar water resistance. Grand Seiko’s February 2026 launch information does not establish a technical difference between the two references. The most useful comparison is therefore their dial appearance and current local pricing and availability, which buyers should confirm on the model pages for their market.

How the SBGX359 and SBGX361 compare

Grand Seiko’s February 10, 2026 launch announcements give the two watches the same headline dimensions, materials, movement and water-resistance rating. They are Heritage Collection quartz watches with stainless-steel cases and bracelets, dual-curve sapphire crystals, and no date function listed for Caliber 9F51.

The official pages cited here do not establish a core technical difference between the references. Dial appearance is the natural point to compare, but verify each model’s current official product page for its specific color and finish rather than inferring a distinction from the reference numbers. Grand Seiko describes the snow-pattern dial inspiration as wind-shaped snow in Shinshu, including the winter view of the Hotaka mountain range from Shiojiri. Grand Seiko’s SBGX359 product page provides model-specific details for that reference.

What the 33mm case means for fit

Both watches have a 33.0mm diameter and 9.1mm thickness, according to Grand Seiko’s launch specifications. The SBGX359 product page also lists a 39.7mm length, 15mm band width, 185mm maximum bracelet circumference and 80g weight. Those extra measurements are stated for the SBGX359; the launch release does not provide matching figures for the SBGX361.

  • See-through case back

  • 40mm Diameter

A 33mm diameter makes these notably compact modern watches. Case diameter alone does not determine how a watch wears: case length, wrist shape, bracelet fit and personal preference all matter. Use the SBGX359’s listed 39.7mm length as a more informative fit reference, and check the corresponding SBGX361 page or try it on before assuming the same wrist feel.

Caliber 9F51: accuracy and features

Grand Seiko rates Caliber 9F51 at ±10 seconds per year and gives it an approximate three-year battery life. The accuracy figure is the brand’s stated rating, not an independent test result for either watch. Grand Seiko describes 9F51 as its most compact 9F caliber design to date. Its design retains the Twin Pulse Control Motor, Backlash Auto-Adjust Mechanism and a regulation switch for fine adjustment during servicing.

  • Dual-curved sapphire crystal
  • Power reserve display on the back
  • Power resrve Approx. 72 hours(3 days)

The launch announcement also describes individually selected quartz crystals aged for three months, a thermo-compensated IC and hand assembly by watchmakers at the Shinshu Watch Studio. These are manufacturer-stated movement features. The official 9F51 page does not list a date function, so descriptions of date-indicator assembly associated with the wider 9F family should not be assumed to apply to these models.

Dial inspiration and design

Grand Seiko links the snow-pattern dial to snow surfaces shaped by wind in Shinshu. Its SBGX359 model page specifies the winter view of the Hotaka mountain range from Shiojiri as inspiration. That gives the pair a regional design story, but it does not by itself confirm that the dials of the two references are identical or distinguish how their colors and finishes differ. Compare the official model images and descriptions for the particular reference you are considering.

Price and availability by market

Prices in the launch announcements are market-specific and date-specific, not a single current worldwide price. Grand Seiko announced a Japanese suggested retail price of ¥440,000 including tax for each model, with a planned Japan release date of April 24, 2026. Its international announcement listed €3,300 each as the European recommended retail price at publication and said continuous production began in April 2026, with sales through Grand Seiko boutiques and selected retail partners worldwide. A Grand Seiko Singapore movement page lists SGD 4,200 each.

Market or availability detail What Grand Seiko stated Qualification
Japan ¥440,000 per watch Suggested retail price including tax in the February 10, 2026 Japanese announcement; planned release April 24, 2026.
Europe €3,300 per watch Recommended retail price in Grand Seiko’s international announcement; listed at publication on February 10, 2026.
Singapore SGD 4,200 per watch Price listed on Grand Seiko’s Singapore Caliber 9F51 page; confirm current local pricing and tax treatment.
Worldwide availability Continuous production from April 2026 Grand Seiko named its boutiques and selected retail partners; stock varies by retailer and date.

Before buying, check the local Grand Seiko site or an authorized retailer for the current price, tax treatment and inventory. The SBGX359 boutique page has shown no online stock at one point, but that observation does not establish general or current availability.

Which one should you choose?

  • Choose by dial: The reviewed launch specifications do not establish a technical difference. Compare the current official images and descriptions for the color and finish you prefer.
  • Check fit rather than diameter alone: The SBGX359 page provides its length and bracelet measurements; seek equivalent details for the SBGX361 if fit is decisive.
  • Compare the local offer: Regional prices and inventory can change, and the announced figures above are not interchangeable across markets.
  • Buy through a verified channel: Grand Seiko names its boutiques and selected retail partners as sales routes. Confirm a retailer’s status and the watch’s availability directly.
