Halios Puck II Review: A 48 mm Dive Watch That Wears Smaller Than It Looks

The Halios Puck II pairs an oversized, lugless case with a sapphire-overlay bezel and bold orange details. Here’s what a 2017 hands-on review says about its fit, specifications and uncertain availability today.

The Halios Puck II is a deliberately oversized, lugless dive watch that a 2017 hands-on review found more comfortable to wear than its 48 mm width suggests. The design keeps the original Puck’s hockey-puck silhouette while refining the bezel and case details. Its reported 500 m water resistance, Miyota automatic movement and distinctive bezel make it an unusual proposition; its strap fit and present-day availability are less certain.

What changed from the original Halios Puck?

The Puck II preserves the large, lugless case that gave the first Puck its name, but refines the design. In Felix Scholz’s 2017 Time+Tide hands-on review, the bezel is described as no longer screwed down and as having a sapphire overlay instead of aluminium. The review also reports that water resistance fell from the original Puck’s 1,000 m rating to 500 m on the Puck II.

These are details reported in that review, not specifications recently confirmed by Halios. The large, round case and strong visual identity remain central to the watch: Scholz describes the design as polarizing rather than an attempt at a conventional, restrained diver.

What are the Puck II’s review-era specifications?

Detail What the 2017 review reports
Case 316L steel, 48 mm wide and 14 mm high
Water resistance 500 m; the review says this is down from 1,000 m on the original Puck
Movement Miyota 9015 automatic
Bezel Sapphire overlay; smooth, firm action, according to the reviewer
Dial and hands Polished roundel hour markers, bright lume, orange five-minute markings and an orange seconds-hand tip
Bracelet Steel bracelet
Listed price and timing $675 USD, with availability from April 2017, as stated in the review

All entries in the table are attributed to Felix Scholz’s 2017 review; they should be read as historical, review-era information rather than a current manufacturer specification sheet or price. The article describes the reviewed watch as a prototype-era example.

How does the Halios Puck II wear?

At 48 mm wide and 14 mm high, the Puck II is large. Scholz’s subjective impression was that it wore comfortably because it has no lugs. That shape may help it sit differently from a similarly wide watch with projecting lugs, but one reviewer’s experience cannot predict fit on every wrist. The distinctive proportions are also part of why the watch can feel polarizing.

The bracelet may need attention over time: the review notes that links nearest the case can show wear from rubbing against its underside. Its unusual case shape can also make strap choices difficult. Scholz mentions shark mesh and Isofrane-style straps as possibilities, not as confirmed compatible products. Check the actual fit before buying an aftermarket strap.

What stands out in the bezel and dial?

Scholz praised the bezel’s sharply defined teeth and described its action as “smooth and firm.” That is his tactile assessment in the 2017 review, not a measurement or a guarantee about every example. The sapphire overlay, orange five-minute markings and orange seconds-hand tip give the watch additional visual contrast, while the polished roundel markers and bright lume add to its bold dial design.

Can you still buy a Halios Puck II?

Current production, official availability, marketplace listings and present-day prices are not established by the available information. The $675 USD figure is the review’s historical listed price, not a current asking price. The review says the watch was available from April 2017; that launch-era statement does not show whether one is available now.
