The official Ginza directory lists GINZA RASIN at 8-7-11 Ginza, Chuo City, Tokyo, describing it as a watch specialist selling secondhand watches and rare antiques. Its listed hours are Monday–Saturday, 11:00–19:30, and Sunday and public holidays, 11:00–19:00. The directory warns that shop information may change, so confirm opening hours and the specific watch’s availability with the store before making a special trip.
GINZA FOUR VINTAGE announced in February 2026 that it had begun tax-free service for eligible non-resident visitors, including on watches among its covered luxury goods. That announcement does not establish current stock or guarantee how a future tax-free refund will be handled. Check directly with the shop and consult Japan’s official guidance for your purchase date.
Nakano
Nakano City’s tourism material features Jackroad and Bettyroad as specialist watch retailers serving international shoppers. Treat the listing as a useful lead, not a guarantee of current inventory, prices, services, or policies. A commercial guide also describes independent used- and vintage-watch dealers on upper floors of Nakano Broadway, but verify specific shops and their current terms rather than relying on broad claims about pricing or trustworthiness.

- Match the identity. Confirm the brand, reference, and available serial information. Check that the seller’s description agrees with the watch and any accompanying papers.
- Ask about originality and condition. Inspect the case, dial, hands, bracelet, clasp, and crown, and ask what movement information the seller can provide. Find out whether parts have been replaced, the case refinished or polished, or the watch repaired. Do not infer originality from age or appearance alone.

- Keep a clear receipt. Request an itemized receipt naming the seller and watch or reference, showing the amount paid and, if applicable, how the tax-free purchase was handled. Keep it accessible with the watch for any departure inspection that applies.

Japan tax-free shopping: the purchase date matters
Japan’s tourist tax-free process is scheduled to change on November 1, 2026. Confirm the rules and the shop’s participation for the actual date of purchase, since the process differs before and after that date.

Purchases through October 31, 2026
Under the existing system, eligible visitors can receive an exemption from consumption tax at the point of sale at participating tax-free shops. Japan Tourism Agency guidance sets a minimum purchase of ¥5,000 before tax for general goods bought at the same store on the same day. Qualifying goods must be taken out of Japan, and eligible shoppers must present a passport or accepted documentation. Confirm your eligibility and the store’s participation before relying on tax-free pricing.
Since April 1, 2025, sending tax-free goods home yourself by international parcel does not establish eligibility. Customs may ask to see the goods, so keep them available while departing.

The scheduled system changes to a refund method. You pay the tax-inclusive price at the shop, then receive the consumption-tax equivalent after departure customs inspection confirms export. Japan Tourism Agency guidance says the goods must be present for inspection before you check your baggage, so allow time before boarding and keep the watch accessible. Ask the shop whether it or a refund service provider handles payment, and when to expect the refund. Because the change is near, recheck official guidance for implementation updates before you buy.

Separately, Japan Customs’ advice about registering a foreign-made watch before departure concerns a watch you already own and are using, which you plan to take out of Japan and bring back on a later visit. Customs says: “Without the prior confirmation, these goods cannot be distinguished from articles purchased abroad when you return to Japan and they may be dutiable in some cases.” That guidance addresses return to Japan, not import treatment for a new Tokyo purchase in another country.
