The Habring² Doppel 38 is a hand-wound split-seconds chronograph built around a 38.5 mm main case. Its defining feature is a second chronograph hand that can pause to mark an intermediate time while the primary hand keeps running, then catch up again. Habring² lists a 48-hour power reserve and a 47 mm lug-to-lug measurement; the maker’s published price and availability are not current quotes.
What the Doppel 38’s split-seconds function does
A split-seconds chronograph, also called a rattrapante, has two chronograph seconds hands that normally travel together. Pressing the split control stops one hand to mark an intermediate time—such as a lap or a competitor’s finish—while the other continues timing. Pressing it again releases the stopped hand to reunite with the moving hand. Habring² describes the operating principle in its Doppel 2.0 history.
On the Doppel 38, Revolution Watch identifies the split control at 10 o’clock and the start, stop and reset pusher at 2 o’clock. These controls give the wearer the intermediate-time function without stopping the main chronograph measurement.
Case size: distinguish the main case from the bezel
Habring² specifies a 38.5 mm main case diameter, with a choice of a 41 mm or 38 mm bezel. Those figures describe different measurements: a comparison with another watch should use the main case diameter against the other watch’s case measurement, not substitute the larger bezel option. The listed lug-to-lug is 47 mm. The visible height is 11.5 mm, increasing to 13 mm measured over the domed crystal.

The case is three-part 316L stainless steel, brushed and polished, with a domed sapphire crystal and sapphire caseback. Habring² lists a double crown seal and water resistance of 3 bar (30 m). That rating is not a general recommendation for swimming.
Movement and published specifications
The official product page identifies the movement as calibre A11R_H1, a manually wound calibre with hours and minutes, small seconds at 9 o’clock, a stop-seconds hand, a 30-minute counter and the split-seconds hand. Habring² lists a 30 mm movement diameter, 7.0 mm movement height, 27 rubies and a fully wound power reserve of 48 hours.

- Finishing: The maker describes the movement as hand-finished. Time+Tide discusses the A11R-H1 as developed from the A11 and describes its assembly and components; Revolution Watch discusses the cam-and-lever arrangement and movement finish. Those are publications’ descriptions, not independent measurements.
- Component count: Habring² lists 98 service-relevant individual components.

Dial choices and configuration
Time+Tide’s circa-2023 feature described salmon, silver and panda-style dial variants, while Habring²’s product page and image gallery show multiple executions. The available evidence does not establish which dial-and-bezel combinations can be ordered now, so treat those descriptions as examples rather than a current configuration list. Confirm the exact dial, bezel and delivery terms with Habring² or a retailer before placing an order.

The model’s appeal is its combination of a rattrapante mechanism with a 38.5 mm main case and manual winding. The 47 mm lug-to-lug and choice of bezel diameter add context for judging its proportions, while the 30-minute counter and small seconds are the other listed timing displays. Buyers comparing it with another chronograph should also check the bezel measurement, control layout, water-resistance rating, available dial execution, and current market-specific price and service arrangements.
