The Habring² Doppel-Felix is a hand-wound split-seconds chronograph: its extra chronograph hand can pause to record an intermediate time while the main hand keeps running. Habring² lists the watch with its A11R movement, a 42 mm steel case and a 48-hour power reserve. The maker’s current product and FAQ pages describe the watch and its development, but do not establish the biographical claim that Richard Habring created IWC’s Doppelchronograph.
What is the Habring² Doppel-Felix?
It is a mechanical chronograph with a rattrapante, or split-seconds, function. Habring² describes it as using its “new very own A11R movement.” The collection page lists two movement variants: A11R and A11RD, the latter with pointer date. The dial options include a telemeter scale or date indication. Those are listed configurations, not a guarantee that every dial and movement combination is available to order at any given time. How does the split-seconds function work?
A split-seconds chronograph has two chronograph seconds hands that normally travel together. The additional hand can be stopped independently to mark an intermediate time while the main chronograph hand continues. Pressing the control again makes the stopped hand catch up and synchronize with the moving hand. This lets the wearer read two elapsed times from one timing sequence—for example, the finish times of two participants who started together. IWC Schaffhausen’s explanation of the double chronograph
“Rattrapante” is the term commonly used for this catch-up action: after being paused, the split hand returns to the main chronograph hand. The complication is distinct from simply stopping and restarting a conventional chronograph, because the main timing hand keeps running while the second hand is held.

What is the connection to IWC’s Doppelchronograph?
The title’s attribution—that Richard Habring created the IWC Doppelchronograph—should not be treated as independently verified by the official pages cited here. IWC’s page explains how the double chronograph complication operates, while Habring²’s FAQ describes its own A11 movement family and split-second module history. Those sources support explaining the complication and Habring²’s development, but do not document that personal IWC design attribution.
Habring² says the A11 family was developed as an equivalent in-house replacement after ETA’s widely publicised withdrawal announcement in 2011. The FAQ says the A11 design preserves interfaces for existing functional modules and dates its split-second chronograph, or “Doppel,” module to 2012. This places the Doppel-Felix within Habring²’s own split-seconds development without establishing the separate IWC biographical claim. Habring² FAQs
