“Hamilton Khaki Field NATO” can mean more than one watch. Hamilton lists the 38 mm Khaki Field Auto H70455960 with a black NATO strap, and the 38 mm H70455940 with a blue NATO strap. Their strap colors and functions differ, and the right replacement strap width depends on the exact reference—not just the Khaki Field name.
Which Hamilton Khaki Field comes with a NATO strap?
The clearest black-NATO match is the Khaki Field Auto H70455960. Hamilton lists it as a 38 mm automatic with a black textile NATO strap. Hamilton describes the automatic collection as inspired by the original soldier’s watch and says it pays tribute to the brand’s military heritage; those are the manufacturer’s own descriptions.
There is also a 38 mm automatic NATO variant, the H70455940, which Hamilton describes with a blue NATO strap and a date function. Check the reference before buying: a listing or search result saying only “Khaki Field NATO” may not identify the color or exact configuration.

Hamilton’s official specifications for the H70455960 list a 20 mm lug width, an H-10 automatic movement, an 80-hour power reserve and 10 bar (100 m) water resistance. Those figures apply to that reference, not automatically to every Khaki Field. The 42 mm H70605733 and H70605160 are comparison models, not the black-NATO configuration: Hamilton lists leather and steel straps, respectively, and 22 mm lugs.

How to choose a replacement NATO strap
- Find the full reference. Check the model number on your watch or its documentation. Do not choose a strap from “Khaki Field” or case diameter alone.
- Confirm the lug width for that reference. For the cited 38 mm H70455960, Hamilton specifies 20 mm. The cited 42 mm H70605733 and H70605160 have 22 mm lugs. These examples do not establish a universal size for all Khaki Field watches.
- Check the strap listing’s stated width. A 20 mm strap is the supported width match for the H70455960; a 22 mm strap matches the cited 42 mm examples. Compatibility of a particular aftermarket strap is not established by Hamilton’s product specifications.
- Change the strap carefully. A spring-bar tool may be useful for strap changes, but Hamilton’s cited product pages do not endorse a particular tool or provide an aftermarket fitting procedure.
What to verify before buying the watch
- Reference and color: H70455960 is listed with black NATO; H70455940 with blue NATO.
- Function: the H70455940 is described with a date function. Check the individual listing for other features and exact specifications.
- Dimensions: confirm lug width on the exact reference if you intend to replace the strap; 38 mm case size does not itself guarantee a particular strap width.
- Availability and price: these can change by region and over time, so consult Hamilton’s current local product page or an authorized seller for present availability and pricing.
Hamilton also lists a 38 mm H70455540 with a 20 mm lug width, but that specification alone does not identify it as either of the NATO references above. The Khaki Field Mechanical H69429901 is a separate manual-winding model, so do not treat it as an automatic NATO variant.
