Reference ST23-OW.FE launched in 2023 in a 25-piece edition. Its appeal is the way the openworked display makes the watch’s mechanics part of the time reading, rather than hiding them behind a conventional dial.
What the First Edition is—and what it is not
Armin Strom introduced the First Edition in 2023 as a new interpretation of its One Week line. The line dates to 2010, when the brand’s first proprietary movement was the ARM09; the First Edition uses the extensively revised, hand-wound ARM21. Monochrome Watches reports that it spent time with one of the 25 examples.
The model’s reference is ST23-OW.FE. It should not be confused with the 2024 One Week Manufacture Edition, reference ST23-OW.ME: Fratello describes that follow-up as a 100-piece edition with anthracite-colored movement parts. The First Edition’s movement components are light blue, as described in Monochrome’s model-specific coverage.
How the openworked display works
Instead of placing a conventional full dial over the movement, the First Edition leaves its layered architecture visible. A black minute ring, central hour and minute hands, and small seconds provide the time display; the visible power-reserve mechanism adds another indication without concealing the movement.

The ARM21’s two mainspring barrels work in series to deliver the seven-day power reserve. Armin Strom’s official owner guide describes the reserve indication as a cone system inspired by pocket watches. The movement measures 36.60 mm by 6.00 mm and comprises 194 components, including 35 jewels. Its stated frequency is 25,200 vibrations per hour, or 3.5 Hz.
Case, bracelet and specifications
Monochrome Watches and Professional Watches give the First Edition a 41 mm stainless-steel case, 10.6 mm thick, with a 46.2 mm lug-to-lug measurement. The integrated steel bracelet is listed at 22–20 mm wide and closes with a double-folding clasp. Sapphire crystal and caseback have anti-reflective treatment, and the stated water resistance is 100 m (10 ATM).

Winding and handling the crown
Armin Strom’s official ARM21 owner guide gives a specific winding sequence: unscrew the crown counterclockwise, then turn it clockwise in its normal position. Stop when you feel slight resistance; the guide warns not to force it. It also says not to operate the crown underwater or while it is wet. These are operating instructions, not a service schedule or repair guide.
Launch price and availability
Monochrome Watches reported 2023 launch prices of CHF 32,000, EUR 37,000 and USD 34,000. Those are historical launch figures, not a current retail quote or a guide to resale value. The official regional Chinese-language product page displayed the First Edition as out of stock when captured; because that is a regional listing, it does not establish worldwide availability. The page also contains adjacent Manufacture Edition material, so its displayed regional price is not a confirmed First Edition launch price.

What the hands-on coverage can—and cannot—tell you
Monochrome’s report is the direct hands-on coverage of the named First Edition among the cited sources. Fratello’s wearing impressions belong to the later Manufacture Edition, not this watch: its reviewer described that variant as substantial and comfortable and noted it may not suit smaller wrists. Those observations are useful family context, but they are not a fit verdict for every wearer or a firsthand assessment of the First Edition.
Professional Watches quotes Armin Strom describing the One Week as a showcase for hand-finishing, listing straight and circular graining, polished and chamfered bevels, perlage-grained plates, and polished screws and sinks. That is the company’s characterization; no independent accuracy test or comparative performance result is established by the cited coverage.
