It has the look of a cycling watch, but the Fratello reviewer’s verdict is more specific: it makes better sense for casual town rides and everyday wear than for intense road, gravel or mountain biking.
What is the Bravur La Grande Boucle IV?
La Grande Boucle IV is part of Bravur’s Grand Tour chronograph line. Its Tour de France cues are expressed through a frosted silver-white dial, a subtle polka-dot pattern and yellow accents. Fratello’s hands-on review shows it on a yellow rubber strap and identifies other strap options in black perforated leather, black or yellow FKM rubber, and steel Milanese mesh. The review describes the design and specifications of this edition; Bravur’s current Grand Tour collection page provides collection context, but currently surfaces La Corsa Rosa IV rather than a confirmed current listing for La Grande Boucle IV.
Case, movement and chronograph functions
The following are specifications reported in Fratello’s review, not measurements independently taken for this article.
| Specification | La Grande Boucle IV |
|---|---|
| Case | 316L stainless steel |
| Diameter | 38.2 mm |
| Lug-to-lug | 46.3 mm |
| Thickness | 14.4 mm |
| Lug spacing | 18 mm |
| Crystal | Domed sapphire with inner anti-reflective coating |
| Water resistance | 10 ATM / 100 m |
| Movement | Sellita SW511 b automatic chronograph, with manual winding and hacking seconds |

| Power reserve | 62 hours, as reported by Fratello |
| Functions | Hours, minutes, small seconds, central chronograph seconds, 15-minute and 12-hour chronograph registers |
The automatic movement can also be wound manually, and hacking seconds means the seconds hand stops when the crown is pulled for time setting. The chronograph has central seconds plus separate 15-minute and 12-hour registers, alongside the ordinary time display. Bravur’s Grand Tour page also identifies the collection’s movement as the Sellita SW511b and lists a 38.2 mm case, 18 mm lug width, sapphire crystal and 10 ATM water resistance; those collection-level details should not be mistaken for a live product page for this exact colorway.

Is it suitable for cycling?
Fratello’s reviewer would not choose the watch for a seriously intense race, gravel ride or mountain-bike outing. The reviewer’s reasons are its relatively substantial 14.4 mm thickness and a shape and proportions they felt would not keep it stable enough on the wrist for that kind of riding. This is a reviewer’s wear judgment, not a controlled test or a universal fit assessment.
The same reviewer sees it as a more natural companion for a casual town-bike ride, a rest day or ordinary wear by someone who wants to signal an interest in cycling. The distinction matters: cycling-inspired design and a 100 m reported water-resistance rating do not by themselves establish how a watch will behave under vigorous riding, impacts or sustained vibration.

Straps and fit
The case has an 18 mm lug spacing. Fratello reports black perforated leather, black or yellow FKM rubber, and a steel Milanese mesh bracelet among the available strap styles; its photographs show yellow rubber. A strap with an 18 mm width may fit the lug spacing, but width alone does not guarantee compatibility with a particular attachment, clasp or end shape. Check the exact strap and fastening arrangement before buying.
Price and availability
Fratello reported prices of €2,550 including VAT, £2,460 including VAT and US$2,550 excluding sales tax. Bravur’s current Grand Tour collection page lists Grand Tour IV at $2,550 USD, but the page currently surfaced is for La Corsa Rosa IV, not a confirmed current listing for La Grande Boucle IV. These are source-reported figures, not confirmation of the exact edition’s present price or stock; taxes, import duties, currency and availability can vary. How it compares with lower-cost alternatives
Fratello names the Tissot Sideral S (reference T145.407.97.057.00) and Casio G-Shock GA-B2100C-9A as less expensive alternatives. They are not direct substitutes for the Bravur: the Tissot is described as a forged-carbon automatic with a Powermatic 80 movement, while the Casio is a solar-powered watch with Bluetooth. The review’s prices are historical or then-current, so no current price comparison is established here.
| Watch | What the cited review identifies | How it differs from the Bravur |
|---|---|---|
| Bravur La Grande Boucle IV | Sellita SW511 b automatic chronograph; 316L steel case; 10 ATM / 100 m reported water resistance | Mechanical chronograph with a 62-hour reported power reserve and cycling-themed design |
| Tissot Sideral S T145.407.97.057.00 | Forged-carbon case and Powermatic 80 automatic movement | Lower-priced automatic alternative named by the reviewer; the cited material does not establish directly comparable chronograph functionality or case dimensions |
| Casio G-Shock GA-B2100C-9A | Solar-powered with Bluetooth | Much less expensive functional alternative, but a different movement and feature proposition from a mechanical chronograph |
Who should consider it?
- Consider it if you want a mechanical chronograph with Tour de France-inspired styling and expect to wear it mainly off the bike or on casual rides.
- Look elsewhere if your priority is a watch the reviewer considers stable for intense cycling, or if you want a substantially lower-cost alternative with different movement technology.
- Verify before ordering if you are set on this exact edition: the current official Grand Tour page surfaced for another variant, and its present availability is not established.
Bravur describes itself as “a Swedish watch brand with a passion for cycling and distinctive design” on its official homepage; that is the company’s own brand positioning. For independent design and wear context on this specific edition, see Fratello’s hands-on review.
