Its defining distinction is certification: alongside COSC chronometer testing, it carries the Fleurier Quality Foundation label, which applies to the completed watch and includes finishing, durability and simulated-wear criteria.
What the 20th Anniversary Edition is
Chopard’s reference 161992-0001 is a time-only watch: hours, minutes and small seconds. It pairs an ethical 18-carat yellow-gold case with a gilded brass dial and brown chapter ring. Chopard specifies an edition of 20 pieces.

The case measures 39 mm across and 8.92 mm thick, with 30 metres of water resistance. A sapphire crystal protects the dial, while a see-through sapphire caseback reveals the movement. The watch is supplied on a soft brown calfskin strap with hand-sewn ecru stitching and an ethical 18-carat yellow-gold pin buckle.
A sector-style dial in gold and brown
The dial’s centre has a sunburst satin-brushed finish; the brown chapter ring has a circular satin finish. Lex Stolk, reviewing the watch for Fratello on June 27, 2025, describes it as a two-tone sector-style design and finds the gold edition more visually expressive than the preceding silver-toned steel version. Stolk also reports applied markers and hands with Super-LumiNova.

Stolk’s hands-on impression is that the watch wears comfortably. He highlights the welded lugs and slender case silhouette. His specific reservation is the beige topstitching on the brown strap, which he considers too sporty and distracting against the otherwise dress-oriented design. That is his aesthetic judgment, not an objective defect.
Case dimensions and wear
At 39 mm in diameter and under 9 mm thick, the official dimensions give the watch a compact, thin profile on paper. Fratello reports a 46.5 mm lug-to-lug measurement and a 19/16 mm strap size. Those additional dimensions and the comfort assessment come from Stolk’s review, rather than Chopard’s listed specifications.
The 30-metre water-resistance rating is a modest specification suited to a dress watch; it is not a claim of suitability for swimming or diving. For care, follow Chopard’s guidance and have the watch’s condition assessed by an authorized service provider if it has been exposed to water or impact.
The L.U.C 96.09-L movement
Inside is Chopard’s self-winding L.U.C 96.09-L. It measures 3.30 mm thick and contains 172 parts and 29 jewels. The movement runs at 4 Hz, or 28,800 vibrations per hour, and has an approximately 65-hour power reserve.

Chopard Twin technology uses two coaxial, stacked barrels to provide that reserve. A gold micro-rotor winds the movement; Chopard’s anniversary article identifies it as ethical 22-carat gold. The visible finishing includes Côtes de Genève on the bridges, along with perlage, anglage and mirror polishing, as described by Chopard.
What Qualité Fleurier certification adds to COSC
COSC and the Fleurier Quality Foundation address related but distinct questions. COSC chronometer certification concerns the precision of the movement. Chopard says this watch has COSC certification as well as the Foundation’s certificate. The latter extends assessment to the watch as a completed object, including manufacturing origin, aesthetic standards, durability and simulated wear.
| Certification or test | What it covers | What it establishes here |
|---|---|---|
| COSC | Chronometric precision of the movement. | Chopard lists the watch as COSC-certified; the Foundation’s criteria also require COSC chronometry. |
| Swiss manufacture and components | The Foundation requires the watch head and components to be Swiss-made. | A requirement of Qualité Fleurier certification, as described by Chopard and the Foundation. |
| Technical and aesthetic standards | The complete cased watch and movement must meet technical and aesthetic requirements. | Broader in scope than a movement-precision result alone. |
| Chronofiable | Durability testing of the watch in its final casing. | Part of the Foundation’s certification process. |
| Fleuritest | A 24-hour simulation alternating calm and active phases to assess precision in conditions intended to represent wrist wear. | Part of the Foundation’s certification process. |
Stolk reports that the reviewed watch passed COSC’s 15-day evaluation and Chronofiable’s three-week test, and that its reported Fleuritest average daily rate was between 0 and +5 seconds. Those are details reported in his June 2025 article; they are not independently published test records for this article. The certification does not make a blanket claim that the watch is categorically better than one bearing only another label; it indicates that additional aspects of the completed watch are evaluated.

How it compares with the steel L.U.C Qualité Fleurier
The gold edition makes a clear material and visual shift from the silver-toned steel model discussed by Fratello. The anniversary watch is specified by Chopard as a 20-piece edition; Fratello’s 2025 review gives the gold watch’s dated price, while referring to CHF 19,300 for the steel watch in a 2024 article.
| Comparison point | Gold anniversary edition | Steel L.U.C Qualité Fleurier |
|---|---|---|
| Material and appearance | Ethical 18-carat yellow gold with a gilded and brown sector-style dial. | Steel, described by Fratello as silver-toned. |

The historical figures are from different publication dates, so they are not a like-for-like current price comparison. The available information also does not establish present stock for either version.
Who this edition suits
This is a focused choice for someone seeking a slim, small-seconds dress watch in yellow gold, with a traditional automatic movement and unusually broad certification criteria. The 20-piece limit and gold construction make it a specific, scarce configuration rather than a general-purpose sports watch. The strap’s contrasting stitching is a visible styling choice to consider, particularly if a quieter, more formal look is the priority.
