Hublot’s Big Bang 20th Anniversary collection comprises five limited editions that share a 43mm case design and the MHUB1280.20YEARS Unico flyback chronograph, but take on very different characters through titanium, King Gold, Magic Gold, black ceramic and red ceramic. At Watches and Wonders 2025, Fratello’s Lex Stolk handled all five; his favorite was Magic Gold, while the vivid red-and-black Red Magic was his least favorite. His ranking is personal, not a universal verdict.
What are the five Hublot Big Bang 20th Anniversary watches?
Hublot calls the anniversary collection “The original, reborn. In five forms.” The five references retain the Big Bang’s layered, assertive design while differentiating themselves through case material and color. Edition sizes and prices below are those reported in Lex Stolk’s Fratello hands-on article, published April 21, 2025. Prices are article-era figures, not confirmed current offers.

What is shared across the anniversary editions?
A 43mm case with familiar Big Bang cues
Each watch uses a redesigned 43mm case. Stolk contrasts this with the 44.5mm case of the earlier Big Bang design. The anniversary case keeps the collection’s layered construction, pinched lugs and knurled bezel edge, alongside rectangular pushers with rubber tips. The strap has a textured lozenge pattern and attaches using Hublot’s One Click system, which the brand describes as a patented strap-changing system.

A common Unico flyback chronograph
All five editions use the MHUB1280.20YEARS Unico self-winding chronograph, according to Stolk’s hands-on account. It has a column wheel and flyback function, and the anniversary edition uses a gold rotor. Hublot describes the Unico as its first fully in-house caliber and says its collection-level Unico information gives a 72-hour power reserve. That figure is general Unico information, rather than a separately verified measurement for each anniversary reference.
A carbon-like dial that is not carbon fiber
The dial’s chequerboard pattern gives it a carbon-like appearance, but Stolk reports that it is stamped brass colored black, not carbon fiber. A Hublot representative told him that the depth of the stamped pattern reflects light more vividly; that is the representative’s explanation as relayed in the article. Hublot says the anniversary collection moves away from the usual openworked Unico presentation to make room for this dial.
How do the five materials change the watches’ character?
Titanium Ceramic: the restrained option
The Titanium Ceramic reference combines titanium and ceramic with red details. It was the least expensive of the five in the prices reported in April 2025 and was limited to 500 pieces. Stolk ranked it fourth, finding its contrast less festive than the anniversary theme might suggest. That is his impression of the design, not a statement about the watch’s quality or appeal to every wearer.

King Gold Ceramic: warmer and more reddish
King Gold Ceramic pairs Hublot’s gold alloy with ceramic and was limited to 250 pieces. Stolk describes King Gold as warmer and more reddish than traditional 5N 18K gold. At the article-era price of €39,900, it sat below Magic Gold and above the other three versions. Stolk ranked it third.

All Black: a matte reworking of the original look
The All Black uses a 43mm black ceramic case with matte-finished surfaces and was limited to 500 pieces. Stolk saw it as a reimagining of the 2006 All Black design and ranked it second. Its monochrome treatment makes it the clearest visual counterpoint to the red ceramic and gold versions.
Magic Gold: the favorite in Stolk’s hands-on ranking
Limited to 100 pieces, Magic Gold was Stolk’s favorite of the five. He felt its greenish glow softened the watch’s appearance, an effect that made it stand out from both the more conventional gold tone and the stronger color contrasts elsewhere in the lineup. Its reported April 2025 price was €42,200, the highest of the five.

Red Magic: bold red against black
Red Magic uses red ceramic and was limited to 100 pieces. Hublot’s use of red ceramic nods to the brand’s history with colored ceramic. Stolk placed it last, citing the strong contrast between vivid red and black. For someone drawn to a conspicuous color statement, that same contrast may be the point rather than a drawback.

This order reflects Stolk’s own reactions after handling the five watches at Watches and Wonders 2025. - For a blacked-out case: All Black, the matte black ceramic version.
- For a warmer gold tone: King Gold Ceramic, which Stolk describes as more reddish than traditional 5N 18K gold.
- For the softest-looking gold treatment in Stolk’s view: Magic Gold, whose greenish glow he felt softened the watch’s appearance.
- For the strongest color contrast: Red Magic, with vivid red ceramic against black.
- For the smallest edition: Magic Gold and Red Magic, each limited to 100 pieces.
The choice is largely between distinct material and color treatments: the movement, case diameter and core anniversary design are shared. The edition sizes and April 2025 article prices provide a factual comparison, but do not establish present-day availability or what a seller may currently charge.
