The original 2023 Tonda PF Sport lineup comprised four watches: a 41 mm Sport Automatic and a 42 mm Sport Chronograph, each offered in steel or 18-carat pink gold. Their main choice is straightforward: time and date or chronograph, then metal and wrist fit. Parmigiani’s Sport changes also include a bezel with fewer incisions than the regular Tonda PF; the Fratello hands-on account describes additional styling and wear differences.
Which four watches are in the 2023 comparison?
Parmigiani Fleurier introduced the Tonda PF Sport Automatic and Tonda PF Sport Chronograph in June 2023. Each came in steel or 18-carat pink gold, making four metal-and-complication combinations. This comparison concerns that original launch, rather than every later Tonda PF Sport release. Parmigiani’s June 2023 launch release identifies the case sizes as 41 mm for the Automatic and 42 mm for the Chronograph.

The table describes the launch models at collection level; it does not assign particular dial details to each metal variant. For reference-level examples of the Automatic, Parmigiani’s 2024 catalogue lists steel PFC930-1020001-400182 and pink-gold PFC930-2020001-400182. That dated catalogue lists both at 41 mm, 9.8 mm thick, water resistant to 100 m, and fitted with black rubber straps. See the 2024 digital catalogue.
What distinguishes the Sport design?
A different bezel texture
Parmigiani says the Sport bezel has 160 incisions, compared with 225 on the regular Tonda PF bezel. The reduced count changes the texture while retaining the collection’s knurled-bezel signature. This is a manufacturer-stated design specification, not a performance measure.

Automatic: a more overtly sporty execution
In his hands-on account, Fratello’s Thomas Van Straaten describes the Sport Automatic as using a full-size automatic rotor instead of the micro-rotor in the regular Tonda PF. He also points to a textile-textured rubber strap, a more prominent crown, lume, altered guilloché, and central seconds as distinguishing details. These are the reviewer’s observations about the launch model, not a claim that every later Sport reference has identical details. Read the Fratello hands-on.
How do the movements compare?
Parmigiani’s current collection page specifies the PF770 automatic movement for the Sport Automatic and the PF070 for the Sport Chronograph. The figures below are manufacturer specifications, not independently measured results.
| Model | Movement | Power reserve | Other stated specification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sport Automatic | PF770 | 60 hours | Not stated on the collection page |
| Sport Chronograph | PF070 | 65 hours | 5 Hz; COSC-certified |
Those figures are listed on Parmigiani’s current Tonda PF Sport collection page. They help distinguish the complications and stated movement specifications, but do not by themselves establish how either watch performs in everyday wear.

Choose by complication first
- Sport Automatic: the simpler option if you want time and date without a chronograph. It is also the smaller of the two launch case sizes at 41 mm.
- Sport Chronograph: the choice if you want the chronograph complication and its associated dial layout, in the 42 mm case.
Then consider metal and fit
Steel and pink gold give the same two model types distinctly different visual character. For fit, the 41 mm and 42 mm labels are useful starting points, not guarantees: case shape, thickness, strap, and individual wrist proportions also affect how a watch wears. Van Straaten describes both watches as substantial and the Tonda shape as prominent on his wrist. He gives his own 17 cm wrist as context and compares it with a colleague’s 18 cm wrist; those are personal impressions, not universal fit measurements.

If possible, try the specific reference on your wrist. A one-millimeter case-size difference does not settle which will feel better, and the hands-on account makes fit a meaningful part of the choice rather than a simple consequence of the nominal diameter.
How should later releases and prices be read?
The Sport line continued after the four-watch 2023 launch. Parmigiani’s May 30, 2024 announcement describes refreshed Sport Chronograph colorways named Milano Blue, Arctic Grey, and London Grey. Those later colors are collection context, not evidence that the original four launch watches had those exact executions. See the 2024 announcement.
Prices also need to be tied to a specific reference and date. When accessed in 2026, Parmigiani’s official page listed CHF 50,000 for the rose-gold, Silver & Sandstone, no-date Chronograph reference PFC931-2020021-400182. That is a price for that particular listed reference, not a verified price for all four 2023 models or for other markets. The page identifies the model as a 42 mm chronograph with 12.9 mm thickness, 100 m water resistance, and PF070-CSND caliber; it should not be substituted for one of the original four without noting the distinction. See the specific model page.
