The watch behind the “toughest Trident” description is the Christopher Ward C60 Trident Elite 1000 Limited Edition, reference AAC-603. A 2019 Fratello review reports 1,000 metres of water resistance, a Grade 2 titanium case, a ceramic unidirectional bezel and an automatic helium escape valve. Those are the model’s reported specifications—not proof of a universal toughest-dive-watch ranking or an independent underwater test.
Which Christopher Ward Trident is this?
Robert-Jan Broer’s June 14, 2019, Fratello hands-on review identifies the watch as the C60 Trident Elite 1000 Limited Edition, reference AAC-603. Christopher Ward introduced it as the most technically capable of three Trident 3 models unveiled for the Trident line’s tenth anniversary. “Toughest” is the review’s framing; the article does not establish a ranking against all dive watches.
The review reports a worldwide production limit of 300 pieces and an expected availability date of July 2019. It listed a launch-era price of €1,565. Neither figure establishes current availability or present-day value.
What the 2019 review reports about its specifications
| Specification | Reported detail |
|---|---|
| Case | 42 mm Grade 2 titanium; 14.6 mm thick; 49.3 mm lug-to-lug |
| Caseback | Solid titanium |
| Crystal | 3.8 mm sapphire crystal |
| Bezel | Ceramic, unidirectional |
| Water resistance | 1,000 metres, as stated in the review |
| Crown and helium release | Screw-down crown and automatic helium escape valve |
| Movement | Automatic Sellita SW200; 38-hour power reserve; hacking seconds |
| Certification and stated rate tolerance | COSC chronometer certification; average rate tolerance of -4/+6 seconds per day |
| Luminescence | Super-LumiNova X1-GL-C1 on the dial, hands and bezel |
These are specifications reported by Fratello in 2019. The movement is behind the solid caseback, so it cannot be viewed through the watch. The review says the watch kept accurate time during the reviewer’s use, but supplies no measured timing results; that observation is not a separate performance test. The article also does not document an underwater test or independent verification of the 1,000-metre rating.

- 🛠️ Helium-Safe Valve: Fully functional Helium-release valve, ideal for deep-sea saturation diving.
How it wears, according to the reviewer
Broer found the titanium watch notably light on the wrist and praised its case finishing and ceramic bezel. He liked the blue-and-orange combination as a fresh design, while questioning whether he would enjoy the orange as much over time. That color judgment is personal, not a technical drawback.
The 14.6 mm thickness is worth considering if you prefer a slim watch or need it to fit under a close-fitting cuff. The review describes the supplied waterproof Cordura-and-rubber hybrid strap as comfortable and notes quick-release pins. Titanium reduces weight, but it is not scratch-proof.

What the review can—and cannot—tell you
The article is useful for identifying the model, its stated construction and specifications, and one reviewer’s wearing impressions. It is not a dive-test report, a current product listing or evidence that the limited edition remains available. Fratello also quotes Christopher Ward CEO and co-founder Mike France on the brand’s direct-sales approach: “One of the good things of selling directly is that you are also in touch with the customer and get unfiltered feedback.” Read the Fratello review.
Model distinctions matter when looking for more information: technical PDFs for other C60 Trident references describe different watches, including a 600-metre 316L model and the Pro 300. Their specifications should not be applied to AAC-603.
