MICROMILSPEC’s current product page lists a 42 mm steel case, automatic movement, 200 m water resistance and a 120-click bezel; an earlier 2022 report describes a different generation with 100 m water resistance and a bidirectional Zulu-time bezel. The maker says preorders are exclusively for active or former Telemark Battalion soldiers.
What the TMBN watch is
MICROMILSPEC says it created the TMBN in collaboration with Telemark Battalion leadership as both a functional tool and a tribute to the unit’s traditions. The company says the watch was designed and developed in Norway and specially produced in Switzerland. In Monochrome Watches’ 2022 interview, Ole Christian Emaus, identified as the project’s initiator, described a ground-up collaboration shaped by the unit’s history and identity. He said: “We wanted to create a product, a watch in this case, that captured the very essence of the Telemark Bataljon.”
That unit connection matters when considering what “mil-spec” means here. Monochrome frames MICROMILSPEC’s pieces as commissioned watches tied to specific units and distinguishes them from standard battle-ready watches issued by the military. The TMBN is therefore best understood as a unit-specific design rather than evidence of a general armed-forces issue watch.
What MICROMILSPEC lists for the current version
The manufacturer’s current TMBN page publishes the following specifications. These are maker-provided figures, not independently verified measurements or test results.

The current page also emphasizes practical legibility and unit-specific detailing: larger hands, stronger lume, larger bezel inscriptions, a date complication and a deeper dial pattern. MICROMILSPEC says the dial pattern refers to a “fylking,” and that the unit badge and name appear in their original form.
A message is concealed on the inner bezel. The manufacturer says it lists unit values including respect, responsibility, courage, discipline, loyalty, independence, robustness and care. The custom caseback carries the Telemark Battalion logo and may be engraved.

How this differs from the watch reported in 2022
The Monochrome Watches hands-on article published on 1 December 2022 covers an earlier TMBN generation. Its figures and design details should not be combined with MICROMILSPEC’s current listing as if they describe one unchanged specification.

These are details from two different publication contexts: Monochrome’s reporting on the earlier watch and the manufacturer’s present product page. The available descriptions do not provide a complete, independently verified generation-by-generation specification history.

What is known about use in the field
Emaus told Monochrome that members wore the watch in civilian life and during training, and that some took it on training and combat missions. He said the watches held up well. This is an attributed account from the project initiator, not a controlled test, an independent performance assessment or a published record of TMBN-specific test conditions.
MICROMILSPEC separately describes a 2019 Field Testing Unit program in which it distributed 30 watches to Norwegian Armed Forces personnel for field testing and reports on performance and accuracy. That program concerns a separate model; it does not establish that the TMBN underwent the same test or achieved a particular result. The maker’s current TMBN page does not publish independent test data.

Who may order the TMBN, and what the page says about price
MICROMILSPEC’s current product page says the TMBN is not available on the open civilian market and may be preordered exclusively by active or former Telemark Battalion soldiers. The page displays a starting price of NOK 17,200. It also shows purchase controls and “0 of 200” watches available, so those elements do not establish that an eligible buyer can place an order now. The page’s statement that orders were scheduled for Q1 2025 is not a current delivery estimate.
