The Cyrus Etheral Twin Orbital Tourbillon tells time with a jumping-hour display and a minute hand mounted on a frame that revolves once per hour. Two flying tourbillons move with that frame, creating a kinetic-like spectacle—but this is a hand-wound mechanical watch, not an electronic or self-powered kinetic watch. Introduced in 2024 as the first model in Cyrus’s Etheral collection, it is limited to 18 pieces.
How does the Etheral Twin Orbital Tourbillon tell time?
Rather than a conventional fixed dial with centrally mounted hands, the watch presents the time on a rotating display frame. Two parallel discs show the hours: one carries the tens and the other the units. Their numerals remain horizontally legible as the frame moves. A triangular hand indicates the minutes, and the complete display frame makes one revolution per hour. The hour indication jumps as the time changes.
The result is a display that is constantly in motion even though its basic job is familiar: read the jumping hour, then the minutes. Cyrus’s official description says the hour discs are inclined at 18 degrees. A power-reserve indicator is positioned on the case back rather than alongside the time display.
What makes the motion look kinetic?
The revolving frame carries the time display and two inclined flying tourbillons. Each tourbillon is inclined at 20 degrees, rotates clockwise, and completes one rotation per minute, according to Cyrus. The hourly revolution of the larger frame adds a second, slower layer of motion. “Kinetic-like” describes that visible choreography; the watch itself is powered by a manually wound mechanical movement.

- Independently developed CAL9001 free-sprung balance flying tourbillon movement, manual winding, 28,880 vibrations per hour, 25 ruby bearings. Features high-end finishing including satin brushing and beveled edges, engraved brand logo with gold-stamped. Dual mainspring series technology delivers 80-hour power reserve (twice that of standard tourbillon movements). This ensures the watch delivers enhanced precision and stability in timekeeping.
- This tourbillon measures 40mm in diameter and just 9.7mm in thickness, weighing a mere 67 grams. Its meticulously engineered structure and radically skeletonized tourbillon movement eliminate all superfluous metal components, allowing the mechanical artistry of the free-sprung flying tourbillon to shine in its purest form. It is an exquisite, high-end tourbillon watch that is both ultra-thin and supremely comfortable.
- The watch is water-resistant to 50 meters, featuring a double-sided sapphire crystal and an Italian leather strap with hand-stitched detailing for comfortable and durable wear. We offer a three-year worldwide warranty.

How to wind and set the watch
The owner’s manual assigns winding and time-setting to the crown at 3 o’clock. It says to wind clockwise. A pusher integrated into the crown at 9 o’clock provides rapid hour correction.
Cyrus recommends setting the time clockwise. Turning the setting crown counterclockwise will not move the jumping hours backward; the minute hand may temporarily become blocked. The manual says this does not damage the watch. For the exact operating instructions, consult the Cyrus owner’s manual.

Case, materials and wear
The case combines 4N rose gold with grade 5 titanium inserts. Cyrus lists a diameter of 44 mm and a thickness of 16.3 mm, antireflective sapphire crystals on the front and back, and water resistance of 5 ATM/50 m/164 ft. The supplied strap is black hand-stitched alligator leather with a custom pin clasp in rose gold and grade 5 titanium.
In his May 9, 2024 hands-on article, Denis Peshkov of Monochrome Watches notes that the 44 mm case may be challenging under a cuff and may suit larger wrists better. That is the reviewer’s subjective fit impression, not a wrist-fit test applicable to every wearer. The same article characterizes the watch as putting mechanical spectacle and aesthetic ingenuity ahead of conventional timekeeping.

What the hands-on example does—and does not—show
Peshkov reports that the watch photographed for Monochrome was a prototype and differed from the digital imagery on Cyrus’s website, including a visible difference in the jumping-hour display. That caveat matters: the photographed example should not be treated as proof that every production watch has the same configuration.
The reviewer also expressed a preference for a 24-hour jumping display rather than a 12-hour one, while acknowledging the design’s emphasis on aesthetic and mechanical ingenuity over conventional timekeeping. That observation captures the trade-off: the watch makes reading the time part of a mechanical display, rather than prioritizing the simplest or most familiar readout. Edition, reported price and ownership
Cyrus’s collection listing identifies the rose-gold-and-titanium version as limited to 18 pieces and provides a route to contact an authorized retailer. It does not establish current stock or a current retail price. Monochrome Watches reported CHF 330,000 on May 9, 2024; that is a historical reported price, not a current quote. For availability and present pricing, contact Cyrus or an authorized retailer through the official collection listing.
Cyrus’s manual recommends having the watch checked and serviced through an official representative every three years. It also says that registering through Cyrus Circle before the regular two-year warranty expires grants an additional two-year extension for manufacturing defects recognized by Cyrus. Warranty terms can change, so confirm the applicable conditions with the maker.
What to weigh before choosing one
This is a highly individual watch rather than an easy substitute for a conventional timepiece. A useful decision comes down to how you respond to its display, physical scale, design and ownership requirements:
Quick Recap
- Display: Decide whether you enjoy jumping hours and a revolving display more than conventional hands, and whether the hour format suits your needs.
- Fit: Consider the 44 mm diameter and 16.3 mm thickness against your wrist and the cuffs you wear.
- Complication and motion: The moving frame and twin tourbillons are central to the watch’s appeal; they are not merely decorative details around a conventional dial.
- Materials and design: Assess whether the rose gold, grade 5 titanium and sculptural layout fit your taste.
- Access and ownership: Confirm retailer availability, service arrangements and warranty terms directly with Cyrus or an authorized representative.
