LM-130.20.50 is the reference covered in 2024 hands-on reports. Fratello and Time and Watches each identify it as a 20-piece limited edition. Its concept is a deliberate mix: a hand-wound Valjoux 88 at the center, contemporary titanium construction around it, and meteorite used for the chronograph counters and moon-phase display.
That identity matters when reading newer news about the collection. Louis Moinet’s official Speed of Sound collection page lists a January 27, 2026 announcement of three ultra-limited editions revisiting the Valjoux 88. How does the Valjoux 88 movement work in this watch?
The Speed of Sound uses a modified, hand-wound Valjoux 88. Louis Moinet removed the movement’s calendar functions while retaining the chronograph and moon phase, leaving room for the watch’s specific combination of displays. The reported functions are hours, minutes, small seconds, central chronograph seconds, a 30-minute chronograph counter, moon phase and a telemeter scale.

The movement is reported at 18,000 vibrations per hour, equivalent to 2.5 Hz, and has 17 jewels. Its stated power reserve is inconsistent across the 2024 coverage: Fratello gives 48 hours, while Time+Tide and Time and Watches give 40 hours. The published reports do not resolve the difference, so neither figure should be treated as definitive without confirmation from the brand.
Reports also describe hand engraving and rose-gold treatment or plating on the movement. Those traditional finishing choices contrast with the titanium case and the unusual materials on the dial.

What do the telemeter and moon phase indicate?
Telemeter scale
A telemeter scale works with the chronograph to estimate the distance to an event that can be both seen and heard. Start the chronograph when you see the event—lightning, for example—and stop it when you hear the corresponding sound, such as thunder. The elapsed time can then be read against the telemeter scale as an estimated distance. It is a practical historical timing function, though the result depends on the event being visible and audible and on the scale’s calibration.
Moon phase
The moon-phase display tracks the lunar cycle. On this watch, reports identify a fragment of Dhofar 457 lunar meteorite in the indicator. The feature therefore combines a conventional astronomical complication with a material linked to the Moon itself.

How are the dial and meteorite details made distinctive?
The dial is black and guilloché, with gold-toned accents. Fratello credits Yann von Kaenel with making the guilloché dial. The chronograph counters use Aletai meteorite, while the moon-phase indicator incorporates a Dhofar 457 lunar-meteorite fragment, according to the 2024 reports.
The meteorite elements give distinct visual roles to the counters and moon phase rather than covering the entire dial in a single unusual material. Against the black guilloché, they make the watch’s complications easier to distinguish while underscoring its cosmic theme.

The 40.7 mm diameter is moderate by many modern chronograph standards, but 18.87 mm is substantial thickness. Fratello notes the large domed sapphire crystal, which contributes to the height. The listed 30 m water resistance is modest, so this is better understood as a dress-oriented or occasion watch than as a watch for swimming.
Although Time+Tide gives a 22 mm lug width, that measurement alone does not establish whether a particular replacement strap will fit the attachment or work with the clasp. Check those details before buying an accessory.

Fratello and Time and Watches reported a retail price of CHF 50,000 for the 20-piece LM-130.20.50 in 2024. That is a launch-era figure, not a current asking price, resale valuation or confirmation that an example is available today. Current stock and market value are not established by those reports.
The 2026 official collection-page announcement concerns three ultra-limited Speed of Sound editions revisiting the Valjoux 88, but it does not supply enough detail to link them to this reference. Its terms should not be assumed to repeat the 2024 model’s price, edition size or specifications.
