The Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional in Canopus Gold is a 42 mm precious-metal take on the familiar Moonwatch, reference 310.60.42.50.02.001 on a bracelet. Its appeal is not just the material: the 2021 hands-on review praised the bracelet’s taper and wearing feel, while noting that the watch feels notably heavy. Omega lists the bracelet model at approximately 236 g; the reviewer reported 235 g.
What makes the Canopus Gold Moonwatch distinctive?
Canopus Gold is Omega’s 18K white-gold alloy, used here for both the case and bracelet. Omega describes the refreshed Moonwatch range as including this version with a silvery sun-brushed dial and 18K white-gold hour markers. The effect is subtler than a conventional yellow-gold watch: in his December 2021 review, Robert-Jan Broer described the alloy as grayer than steel and less yellow than white-gold Rolex watches he had beside it. That comparison reflects his own impression, not a controlled color test.

How does it wear?
Broer’s December 2021 hands-on account describes the watch as noticeably heavy. #1 Best Overall
- Model 310.32.42.50.01.001
The reviewer also praised the bracelet’s taper from 20 mm and its wearing feel. His clasp observation was more specific: it had an additional pin position for adjustment but no micro-adjustment system. He mentioned using a small tool or wooden toothpick to move the pin; that is an anecdote from his review, not a universal adjustment or care recommendation.
Bracelet or black leather strap?
Omega’s collection page names both a Canopus Gold bracelet and a black leather strap configuration. The 2021 review identifies the strap version as reference 310.63.42.50.02.001. A strap changes the watch’s material coverage and feel, while the bracelet carries Canopus Gold across the wrist as well as the case. Choose based on whether you prefer a full precious-metal bracelet or the look and feel of leather; confirm that each reference is currently offered in your region.

How it compares with a steel Moonwatch
The Canopus Gold model remains part of the Moonwatch line, but it is not simply a steel Moonwatch in a different color. The precious-metal case and bracelet change the material, the weight on the wrist, and the price category. The cited sources do not establish a current like-for-like steel price or a value-retention case, so neither should be inferred from the 2021 gold-watch prices.

What to check before buying
- Match the reference number to the configuration: 310.60.42.50.02.001 is the bracelet version; 310.63.42.50.02.001 is the leather version named in the 2021 review.
- Ask Omega or a local authorized retailer for current regional stock and pricing. The cited Omega Hong Kong product page provides specifications but no current price.
- Verify the seller, warranty terms, and exact configuration on any marketplace listing; an exact product search phrase alone does not confirm stock or seller authorization.
