How the 4N MVT01 D01 displays the time
The MVT01 D01 is mechanical despite its digital-style display. Rotating discs carry the numerals, which align to show the time. Fratello’s 2014 review describes three disc groups: four discs on the left represent the 12 hours, five on the right display single minutes, and a disc in the middle indicates tens of minutes. The result is a four-digit time display built from moving mechanical components rather than an electronic screen.
The review says a constant-force system makes the discs jump at the appropriate moment. This is the defining visual effect: the numerals do not glide continuously like watch hands. The source does not explain the system’s detailed operation, so the precise mechanics behind each changeover cannot be established from that account alone.

Those details frame the watch as a movement-led piece: the discs are not simply a digital display laid over a conventional timekeeping mechanism. Fratello also reported that the components were hand-decorated and that 4N worked with Renaud & Papi on the complex movement. The review says finishing and assembling one watch took master watchmakers close to two months.
Production, materials and historical price
Fratello’s July 2014 article reported a total of 16 pieces across white gold, titanium and platinum. It gave a historical white-gold price indication of €150,000 excluding taxes. Neither figure establishes present-day production, availability or pricing, and no current official product or sales information is established here.

Strap and practical details
The review describes a quick-release strap and says custom lengths were available. It does not provide strap width, attachment dimensions or third-party compatibility information.
