It keeps the Sea-Dweller’s 1,220 m (4,000 ft) water-resistance rating, helium escape valve and Calibre 3235, while adding gold to the bezel markings, bracelet centre links and dial details. The result is a technically serious watch with a noticeably dressier, more conspicuous look than an all-steel Sea-Dweller.
What the 126603 is—and what “Yellow Rolesor” means
Rolex identifies reference 126603, model code M126603-0001, as a Sea-Dweller made in Yellow Rolesor, its name for the combination of Oystersteel and yellow gold. The 43 mm Oyster case is paired with a black dial and a black Cerachrom bezel insert whose numerals and graduations are gold-coated. Gold also appears in the bracelet’s centre links and in details such as the crown, markers and hands. Rolex’s official model specifications provide the complete configuration.
That two-tone treatment changes the watch’s visual character without changing its basic proposition: this is still a large, deep-rated professional Sea-Dweller, not a smaller or more restrained dress watch. James Stacey’s March 20, 2019 Hodinkee hands-on found the gold made the traditionally utilitarian design feel more playful and flashy. That is a subjective reading, but it captures the principal choice: whether the Sea-Dweller’s technical design appeals more with all-steel restraint or with prominent gold accents.
How it wears: 43 mm and substantial on the wrist
The case measures 43 mm across. Stacey described the 126603 as no less chunky on wrist than the steel version. That is his hands-on impression, not a measured thickness comparison or a universal fit verdict; wrist shape, preferred fit and bracelet sizing all affect how a watch feels. If a lower-profile or visually discreet watch is your priority, the 126603’s dimensions and gold highlights are worth considering in person before buying.

The Oyster bracelet has an Oysterlock safety clasp and Rolex Glidelock extension. Rolex says Glidelock provides approximately 20 mm of adjustment and can accommodate a diving suit up to 3 mm thick. That adjustment is useful for changing fit over a suit or making smaller sizing changes without tools; it does not make the case itself smaller or less prominent.
Sea-Dweller capability and movement
Deep-water specification
Rolex rates the watch to 1,220 metres (4,000 feet). Its Triplock screw-down crown and helium escape valve are part of the professional-diving design. In saturation diving, helium can enter a watch case; Rolex explains that the valve releases excess pressure during decompression in a hyperbaric chamber while preserving the watch’s water resistance. The valve is a specialized feature for that use case, rather than a general-purpose substitute for correct crown operation or maintenance. Rolex’s Sea-Dweller technical history explains the valve and collection’s deep-water development.
Calibre 3235
The 126603 uses Rolex self-winding Calibre 3235. Rolex lists centre hours, minutes and seconds, an instantaneous date with rapid setting, and stop-seconds for setting the time. Its stated power reserve is approximately 70 hours. Rolex’s Superlative Chronometer specification for the finished watch is −2/+2 seconds per day after casing; this is the manufacturer’s stated precision target, not a performance result from an independent test of this particular example.

Rolex’s newsroom says its Superlative Chronometer certification expanded in 2026 to seven criteria: precision, waterproofness, self-winding and autonomy, alongside resistance to magnetism, reliability and durability. Rolex describes the −2/+2 seconds-per-day requirement as applying after casing, following official chronometer certification of the movement. These are Rolex’s own standards and description of its certification system, not an independent comparison of watches. Rolex’s certification explainer sets out the criteria.

The clearest distinction established by the available specifications and hands-on account is visual: the 126603 uses gold on the bezel graduations, bracelet centre links and dial-side details, where an all-steel version presents a more uniform steel look. Both approaches retain the 43 mm Sea-Dweller case identity, but the gold makes this reference more conspicuous. The available hands-on account also describes the 126603 as chunky; it does not establish a comparative fit advantage or disadvantage through testing.
This is not a complete model-to-model specification or price comparison. Choose based on whether you want the steel-and-gold finish and whether the substantial case suits your wrist and intended use; do not assume the gold changes the Sea-Dweller’s stated depth rating or movement specification.

Buying, price and service
Hodinkee recorded a US retail price of $16,050 in 2019, at the watch’s launch. That is historical context only, not a current retail price or an estimate of today’s resale value. Current price by market, stock and secondary-market value are not established here. For up-to-date availability and service, Rolex says its watches may be sold and maintained only by official Rolex retailers; use Rolex’s retailer channel to check current local options.
If considering a pre-owned example, verify the seller, condition, papers, authenticity protections and whether the listing accurately identifies ref. 126603. No current marketplace listing or stock was verified, so a listing should not be treated as authorized or available merely because it appears in search results.

A brief history of the Sea-Dweller’s depth rating
Rolex traces the Sea-Dweller to 1967, when the model was initially guaranteed to 610 m (2,000 ft). The company says the line reached 1,220 m (4,000 ft) in 1978. That history helps explain why the 126603 combines a refined two-tone finish with equipment associated with saturation diving. These dates and ratings are Rolex’s account of the collection’s development, rather than an independent history. Rolex’s Sea-Dweller overview covers the history and technical features.
