The Beaufort Fiordland GMT pairs a compact, vintage-influenced design with the Miyota 9075 flyer-style GMT movement, so its local hour hand can be adjusted independently when changing time zones. In Jorg Weppelink’s Fratello review, published 3 October 2024, the watch wore comfortably and stood out visually; he found its bracelet quality only decent for the €500–600 segment. That is a useful starting point, but price and stock have since proved time-sensitive: Beaufort’s pages checked for this article listed the variants as sold out.
What does the Fiordland GMT offer?
Beaufort describes the Fiordland as a 39 mm 316L stainless-steel watch with fine brushing, chamfered lug edges, a double-domed sapphire crystal with underside anti-reflective coating, and a push/pull crown. Its listed thickness is 12.8 mm including the crystal, with a 47 mm lug-to-lug measurement and 20 mm strap width. What is a flyer-style GMT watch?
A flyer-style GMT lets you adjust the local 12-hour hand independently of the other time display. When you land in a new time zone, you can move the local hour hand without resetting the home-time indication. Fratello identifies the Fiordland’s Miyota 9075 as this type of GMT movement. That makes the function practical for travel rather than merely a second time-zone display. The independent local-hour adjustment is the feature to look for if you want to change local time while keeping home time visible.
How does it look and wear?
Fratello reviewer Jorg Weppelink reported that the case proportions and substantial lugs gave the watch good presence while still allowing it to sit well on the wrist. Those are the reviewer’s wear impressions, not measurements independently tested here. He also noted a visual contrast between the classical dial and the large, more modern-looking bezel numerals. Strap or bracelet: which configuration makes sense?
The sources do not agree on a single standard strap description: Beaufort’s product page mentions full-grain Italian leather in its introduction and TPU rubber in its technical strap section, while Fratello’s October 2024 review describes the standard setup as a black TPU Tropic-style strap. Weppelink said the bracelet changed the watch’s look and preferred the 11-row bracelet configuration, but judged its quality “decent at best” in the review-time €500–600 price segment. Beaufort’s own 20 mm flat-link bracelet is listed as compatible; the bracelet page checked for this article showed it as sold out. Fratello reported a €529 price on the TPU strap when its review was published on 3 October 2024. That is a historical price, not a current quote. Beaufort’s Martini Grey product listing showed NZD 950 and sold-out status when checked for this article; the collection page showed all four dial variants sold out. Is the Beaufort Fiordland GMT worth it?
The Fiordland’s strongest case is its combination of a useful flyer-style GMT movement, a 39 mm case, and a design that Fratello found visually distinctive and comfortable on the wrist. Its clearest reservation in that review is the bracelet’s execution relative to the review-time €500–600 segment. The older €529 price should not be treated as current, and sold-out listings make availability the immediate question for prospective buyers.
