What is the Credor Locomotive GCCR997?
Credor introduced the GCCR997 on February 5, 2025, as a new design series inspired by the Locomotive. It followed the watchmaker’s 2024 commemorative revival of the Genta-designed watch. Credor describes the Locomotive as a symbol of mutual respect and friendship between Genta and the watchmaker.
Credor says its relationship with Genta began in the 1970s, when he frequently traveled to Japan and developed a close bond with Seiko. The company identifies the Locomotive as one of his celebrated designs. The official material cited here does not establish a more precise date for the original design or launch.
What makes the GCCR997’s green dial distinctive?
Credor says the dial’s green takes inspiration from the signal lights used in train systems. Its hexagonal pattern refers to the watch’s case and bezel, while stripes within the hexagons are intended to create changing color effects as light moves across the surface. Credor describes its high-intensity titanium as 30% lighter and more scratch-resistant than stainless steel. That is the manufacturer’s comparison for this alloy, not a claim about titanium in general. Credor also says Caliber CR01 is exclusive to the brand and that its thin construction helps keep the watch below 9 mm thick. The company contrasts this automatic movement with the quartz movement used in the celebrated original.
