The third-generation Nezumi Aviera is a compact, 200-meter automatic flyer GMT that fixes the original model’s thick-wearing profile while adding the travel function most buyers want: an independently adjustable local-hour hand. At €576–€636 before VAT, duties and import taxes, it is not the sub-€400 bargain the first NH34 version was, but the Miyota 9075, slimmer case and stronger finishing make the current watch a more complete proposition.
What changed from the original Aviera?
The first Aviera reviewed in 2023 used Seiko’s NH34 automatic GMT movement. The 2025 third generation moves to Miyota’s 9075, a flyer GMT, and revises the case and bezel proportions.
| Specification | Original NH34 model (2023 review) | Third generation (2025 review) |
|---|---|---|
| Movement | Seiko NH34 automatic GMT | Miyota 9075 automatic flyer GMT |
| Case diameter | 40mm | 40mm |
| Lug to lug | 47mm | 47mm |
| Thickness | 12mm case; 13.55mm including crystal | 11.35mm case; 13.3mm including crystal |
| Bezel | Fixed engraved 24-hour bezel | Smaller 39mm fixed engraved 24-hour bezel |
| Crystal | Double-domed sapphire | 1.95mm vintage-shaped sapphire |
| Water resistance | 200m | 200m |
The numerical reduction is modest, but the smaller bezel and revised crystal change the visual balance. In hands-on use in 2025, the new case felt slimmer and more comfortable than the sometimes-chunky predecessor. That is a reviewer’s wearing impression, not a laboratory comfort measurement.
How the Miyota 9075 works when traveling
The 9075 runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour, has 24 jewels, hacking seconds, hand-winding and a 42-hour power reserve. Its defining feature is the independent local-hour hand.
#1 Best Overall
- JAPANESE AUTOMATIC MOVEMENT FOR MECHANICAL PRECISION - Self-winding technology for dependable performance.
- SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL AND STAINLESS STEEL DIVE CONSTRUCTION - Premium durability and clarity.
- ROTATING GMT BEZEL FOR TRAVEL AND EXPLORATION - Dual-time functionality with diver styling.
- PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE WITH EVERYDAY VERSATILITY - Ideal for travel, diving and daily wear.
Changing time zones
- Keep the 24-hour GMT hand set to home time or another reference zone.
- Use the crown’s local-hour position to move the 12-hour hand forward or backward in one-hour increments.
- Read the local time from the main hands and your reference time from the yellow GMT hand against the fixed 24-hour scale.
This is a true flyer GMT arrangement. You do not need to stop the watch or reset the minute hand when crossing time zones. The fixed bezel is simpler than a rotating dive-style GMT bezel, but it is legible and keeps the Aviera’s tool-watch layout uncluttered.
Accuracy: what is known and what is not
Miyota’s official accuracy specification for the 9075 is -10/+30 seconds per day. Individual movements may run closer after regulation, but that observation is not an independent, controlled accuracy test of the Aviera. There is no published laboratory report or long-term ownership dataset establishing a tighter real-world range for this watch.
How the third-generation case wears
The 40mm diameter and 47mm lug-to-lug measurement suit a wide range of wrists without making the watch feel small. The 11.35mm case, 13.3mm total height and curved vintage-style sapphire keep the profile more discreet than the earlier version. As with any 47mm lug-to-lug watch, very small wrists should check lug overhang before ordering.
The design remains an Explorer-style tool watch: matte black dial, cream lume, syringe hands, a fine seconds hand and a yellow arrow GMT hand on the regular model. The fixed engraved bezel, screw-in steel case back, sapphire crystal and 200m rating support genuine travel and outdoor use rather than merely decorative GMT styling.

Choosing among the three current references
| Reference | Dial and case treatment | Strap or bracelet | Edition | Price before VAT, duties and import taxes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AA3.102 | Matte black dial, cream luminous markers, steel case | Colin 2.2 five-row bracelet | Regular production | €636 |
| AA3.302 | Cream full-lume dial with black markers | Off-white Malta FKM rubber | 300 unnumbered pieces | €576 |
| AA3.133 | Black DLC case and bezel, green GMT markings | Green Malta FKM rubber | 300 unnumbered pieces | €576 |
Depending on reference, the Aviera can also be ordered with Hunt leather, Juno canvas or Malta FKM rubber. Hunt leather and Juno canvas configurations are €589 before VAT, duties and import taxes. The bracelet version costs €47 more than those options and €60 more than the rubber configurations.
Best value: AA3.102 on bracelet
The standard AA3.102 is the safest value choice if you want one watch for work, travel and weekends. Its five-row Colin 2.2 bracelet has a folding clasp and toolless micro-adjustment, giving the most versatile fit and the broadest visual range.
Best for a lighter, more casual look: leather or canvas
Hunt leather makes the watch warmer and more vintage-looking; Juno canvas pushes it toward field-watch utility. Both cost €589, between the bracelet and rubber configurations.
Best for maximum personality: the limited editions
AA3.302’s cream full-lume dial is the most legible and distinctive in daylight, while AA3.133’s black DLC case and green accents are the most overtly modern. Each is limited to 300 unnumbered pieces, so selection is primarily about color and wear rather than a different movement or case size.

Is it a bargain Black Bay Pro alternative?
It occupies the same broad idea—a rugged mechanical GMT with a 24-hour display—but it is not a direct substitute in finishing, brand scale or total delivered cost. The Aviera’s advantages are its compact 40mm by 47mm profile, 200m water resistance, flyer GMT movement and strap flexibility. The Black Bay Pro comparison becomes less compelling once VAT, duties and import taxes are added to the listed pre-tax price, and no verified delivered-price comparison was published.
The original 2023 Aviera was presented as a sub-€500 mechanical GMT; its approximately €400 bracelet, €345 leather and €329 rubber prices predated the current generation. The third-generation prices reflect the newer movement and revised construction rather than a minor color update.
Design context and the “strap monster” question
Nezumi Studios was founded and designed by David Campo in Stockholm. Campo said the project was delayed because affordable, interesting GMT movements were not available at the time. The original design drew on vintage Explorer-style and Rolex Explorer II reference 1655 cues; the current case and limited-edition treatments make that influence less immediate.
The earlier hands-on review called the Aviera a “strap monster,” and in 2025 hands-on use, rubber and leather likewise substantially altered its character. Those are useful practical observations, not measured comfort tests. The Aviera is also the GMT member of Nezumi’s coordinated Adventure Trio alongside the Terrain field watch and Baleine diver.

Verdict
Nezumi’s third-generation Aviera is objectively better equipped than the NH34 predecessor: the Miyota 9075 delivers independent local-hour adjustment, while the smaller bezel, thinner case and revised sapphire improve everyday wear. Choose the €636 AA3.102 on bracelet for the strongest all-round value, or spend €576 on a limited rubber model if the distinctive dial and case treatment matter more than maximum versatility. Just treat the -10/+30 seconds-per-day figure as Miyota’s specification, not a proven accuracy result for every Aviera.
