What makes the Anillo GMT different?
Papar Watch Co. says the Anillo was designed in the high desert of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Its defining feature is an inner sector ring divided into 24 laser-cut openings. Beneath that ring, a rotating GMT disc and triangle indicator track the home time zone. The color-changing moon-and-logo motif serves as a visual day/night indicator for that zone, according to the maker.
The result is a display with an architectural, almost industrial feel, but it has a practical purpose: the second time zone is shown around the dial rather than on a conventional 24-hour hand. Fratello reviewer Lex Stolk found the display surprisingly legible and intuitive once he knew where to look. That’s a reviewer’s impression, not a comparative legibility test.
How the GMT setting works
Fratello describes the Anillo as a flyer-style GMT powered by the Miyota 9075. This movement lets you adjust the local hour hand independently, which is useful when changing time zones: you can move local time without resetting the home-time display. The rotating disc and triangle continue to indicate the second zone.

The Miyota 9075 is automatic, with manual winding and hacking seconds, according to Fratello’s 2025 review. The review lists a 4 Hz beat rate (28,800 vibrations per hour), a 42-hour power reserve and 24 jewels.

The compact 36 mm diameter and 43 mm lug-to-lug are useful fit reference points, though they can’t predict how the watch will sit on every wrist. Its 12.1 mm thickness is another consideration if you prefer a particularly slim watch.

What the review gets right—and the crown caveat
Stolk’s enthusiasm centers on the Anillo’s original angular case, the sector dial’s visual character and a second-time-zone display that proves easier to read than its unconventional layout might suggest. He calls it a “brutalist beauty” in his closing assessment. Those are his impressions, rather than a claim that the watch suits every taste or outperforms other GMTs.
The practical reservation is more concrete: the small, angular screw-down crown is uncomfortable to operate, according to the review. That matters because the crown is central to setting and winding a mechanical watch. If you frequently adjust your watch or find small crowns difficult to grip, this is worth considering before buying.

Steel or rose-gold PVD?
Papar lists both versions at $750 and describes an initial run of 200 numbered watches: 100 in each finish. Both use a 316L steel case; the rose-gold model adds a PVD finish. The maker’s listings show different dial colors between the finishes, so choose by the overall color combination as well as the case treatment. The stated numbered production applies to that initial run, not necessarily to future production or availability.

Who should consider the Papar Anillo GMT?
- Consider it if you want a design-led GMT with an uncommon display, appreciate angular case design, and like the idea of independently adjusting local time.
- Look closely at fit if you usually wear larger watches or are sensitive to case thickness; the published dimensions are 36 mm across, 12.1 mm thick and 43 mm lug-to-lug.
- Try the crown if possible if ease of operation is a priority, given the reviewer’s complaint about its small, angular screw-down design.
