The 2021 Raketa Copernicus Limited Edition is a 300-piece mechanical watch that turns its hands into a miniature solar-system motif: a large ring marks minutes as Earth, a smaller disc marks hours as Jupiter, and a yellow agate circle represents the Sun. Its blue aventurine dial and black PVD-coated case distinguish it from standard Copernicus models. The €1,290 price reported at launch is historical; current availability and resale value are not established.
How to read the Copernicus display
Read the watch by following the two moving circles, not by looking for conventional pointed hands. The larger silver ring travels around the dial once per hour and indicates the minutes. The smaller disc completes one circuit in 12 hours and indicates the hour. A fixed yellow agate circle off-center on the dial represents the Sun.

The planetary arrangement is an artistic concept, not a literal scale model or an additional astronomical complication. The watch displays the time; the Earth and Jupiter imagery comes from the shapes and paths of its hands. In Fratello’s review, Nacho Conde Garzón describes the minute indicator as “The larger silver ring, which serves as the watch’s minute hand represents the Earth.”
What is distinctive about the 2021 limited edition?
This version combines natural blue aventurine with a yellow agate Sun, then sets that stone dial in a black PVD-coated stainless-steel case. It also has a circular seconds hand and a decorated movement visible through the exhibition back. The production run was 300 pieces, according to Fratello and Deployant’s 2021 reviews.

Because the dial is made from natural stone, the pattern and texture can vary from watch to watch. The edition’s combination of materials and details is specific to this release; it should not be treated as interchangeable with a later standard-line Copernicus.

Movement and everyday considerations
Fratello identifies the movement as Raketa calibre 2615 and reports a 40-hour stated running time. It describes the movement as hand-windable but non-hacking: winding by hand is possible, while the seconds hand cannot be stopped to synchronize the watch precisely. The stated average rate of -10/+20 seconds per day is attributed to a four-position test in the review, not a guarantee of how every individual watch will perform.
The reported 50 m / 5 ATM water resistance is a specification, not an invitation to assume the watch is suitable for every water activity. For care or service, consult a qualified watchmaker or Raketa service channel rather than extrapolating instructions for a different Copernicus model.
Price, availability and design history
The €1,290 figure belongs to the 2021 launch-era reviews, with Deployant specifying that it was before taxes. It is not a current asking price or a verified resale valuation. The available sources do not establish whether a new example can currently be bought, nor do they provide a market statistic for second-hand prices.
The Copernicus design has Soviet-era roots, but the sources describe its history differently: Fratello says the design dates to the 1980s, while Raketa’s official history says an initial design was developed in 1965. Those statements may refer to different milestones; the sources do not reconcile them, so neither date should be treated as an uncontested launch year. Raketa’s own Copernicus history and design description provides the official account.
Fratello’s review notes that the watch was loaned to the reviewer by the manufacturer. Its subjective impressions and observations are the reviewer’s, while its movement and specification statements are review claims rather than independent testing conducted here.
