That is distinct from the earlier Y1545 redesign covered in a 2022 hands-on, so its fit impressions and bracelet criticisms should not be treated as observations of these new steel-bezel models.
What is new on the Steel Black and Steel Blue?
Squale identifies the satin-finished steel bezel as the headline update: these are the first 1545 models to use steel bezels. The Steel Blue adds a Côtes De Genève dial finish that the brand says changes in appearance with the light. Squale describes both dials as modern interpretations of the collection’s diving identity; those are design descriptions, not independent findings about durability or performance. Squale’s announcement names the new Steel Black and Steel Blue models.
They belong to a collection with a longer history. Squale dates the 1545 to the 1970s and says its Y1545 case was originally produced on demand for other brands, at a time when the company was among the early makers of water-resistant watch cases. According to Squale, “1545” comes from the case’s serial production number. The case has since appeared in different sizes and finishes, while today’s dials reinterpret the original 1970s models. Squale’s collection history is the source for that account.
Specifications for the bracelet references
The official product pages list the following specifications for the Steel Black Bracelet, reference 1545SSBK.AC, and Steel Blue Bracelet, reference 1545SSBLC.AC. Dimensions and movement details are manufacturer specifications, not measurements from an independent test.

Specifications are listed on the official Steel Black and Steel Blue product pages. Squale’s collection page also equates 30 atmospheres with 300 meters. That is the manufacturer’s rating; it does not independently certify suitability for a particular dive profile.
How the new models relate to the 2022 redesign
Thomas Van Straaten’s November 19, 2022 Fratello hands-on covered an earlier configuration of the redesigned Y1545, not the newly announced steel-bezel references. His reported dimensions—40 × 48 × 12 mm, with a 20 mm lug width—match the core proportions listed for the new bracelet models, but that overlap does not make the watches identical. The earlier review’s configuration and prices should not be used as current details for Steel Black or Steel Blue.

Van Straaten called the watch familiar and compact on his 17 cm wrist, and said it wore similarly in size to a Rolex Submariner ref. 14060. That is one reviewer’s fit impression, not a universal sizing result. He praised the revised dial identity and easy-to-wear feel, but found the bracelet end links underwhelming and said the clasp lip scratched the bracelet. These are his personal observations of his sample, not established shortcomings of the new bracelet references. Read his 2022 hands-on report for the configuration he reviewed.

The Steel Black and Steel Blue make the most sense to someone drawn to the 1545’s compact, familiar proportions who wants the collection’s new satin steel-bezel treatment. The Steel Blue’s dial supplies the more visibly distinctive surface; the Black keeps the presentation more restrained. Their listed specifications give a clear basis for comparing size and movement, but the 2022 reviewer’s comfort assessment cannot substitute for trying on the current model—especially if bracelet fit and clasp feel are decisive for you.

Availability and price need a current check. On September 28, 2026, Squale’s official bracelet pages displayed both models as unavailable; that status can change. Van Straaten reported prices of €745 / US$728 on bracelet and €654 / US$638 on rubber, excluding VAT, in November 2022.
