Hands-On: The Ultra-Slim Christopher Ward Twelve 660

The Christopher Ward Twelve 660 pairs a 38 mm case with a 6.6 mm profile and a hand-wound movement. Here are the slim watch’s practical tradeoffs.

The Christopher Ward Twelve 660 is a 38 mm integrated-bracelet watch built around a remarkably slim 6.6 mm case and a pared-back hours-and-minutes display. Its hand-wound movement and clean dial help keep the profile lean, but the tradeoffs are real: there is no seconds hand or date, and its 3 ATM water-resistance rating is not a swimming guarantee.

What the Twelve 660 is—and what “660” means

The Twelve 660 takes the integrated-bracelet design of Christopher Ward’s Twelve collection and pares it down. The “660” refers to the case’s 6.6 mm height, according to the brand’s technical specification sheet. The result is a compact, dress-leaning sports watch whose defining feature is its thin profile rather than extra functions.

Christopher Ward lists a 38 mm case diameter and 43.3 mm lug-to-lug measurement. Those figures give useful context beyond the headline thickness: the watch is relatively compact across the wrist as well as slim from front to back. Actual fit still depends on wrist shape and the integrated bracelet or strap configuration; dimensions alone cannot establish comfort for every wearer.

How it wears and what the design prioritizes

In his 2025 launch hands-on, Russell Sheldrake of Time+Tide describes the watch’s slimness and restrained proportions in subjective terms. That is a reviewer’s impression, not a standardized comfort test. The manufacturer’s stated measurements are the more useful starting point if you are judging whether the 660 will sit discreetly under a cuff or suit a smaller-wearing preference.

The dial is deliberately spare: launch coverage describes only hours and minutes, with no seconds hand and no date aperture. That gives the face a quieter look, but it also removes quick visual confirmation that the watch is running and the convenience of a date display. Buyers who rely on either function should treat their absence as a design choice, not an oversight.

The brand’s technical sheet describes a grained dial, top-brushed indexes and hands, and diamond-polished facets. It also lists an anti-reflective box sapphire crystal, an embossed push-in crown, and an exhibition caseback. The launch material documented steel and black DLC case versions, with blue, green, white and black dial colorways; those are launch-era options, not confirmation of today’s lineup.

Movement: manual winding, with a wording discrepancy

The Twelve 660 uses the Sellita SW210-1 b. Time+Tide describes it as hand-wound, which is consistent with the SW210 family. Christopher Ward’s technical PDF, however, calls it a “Self-winding” movement while identifying the calibre as SW210-1 b. Because those descriptions conflict, the safest practical reading is that this is a hand-wound watch, and the PDF’s self-winding label appears inconsistent.

The manufacturer lists 18 jewels, a 4 Hz rate (28,800 vibrations per hour) and a 42–45-hour power reserve. In ordinary use, hand-winding means winding the crown rather than relying on wrist motion to keep the movement powered. The lack of a seconds hand also means there is no seconds display for checking whether the watch is running at a glance.

The technical sheet describes an elaboré colimaçoné, vertically brushed and sandblasted movement finish, sunray-brushed wheels, and an exhibition caseback. These are manufacturer specifications; they do not establish independently measured accuracy or durability.

Case, bracelet and water resistance

The manufacturer specifies a steel case, 23.3 mm integrated strap width and 3 ATM / 30 m water resistance. It also lists an exhibition caseback and a unique engraved serial number. The black model is described as having a DLC coating, with the technical sheet specifying 660 HV surface hardness for that coating.

A 3 ATM / 30 m rating should not be read as a promise that the watch is suitable for swimming. The specification supports ordinary water-exposure expectations only within the manufacturer’s guidance; it does not establish suitability for immersion or water sports. Check Christopher Ward’s current care guidance for the watch before exposing it to water.

Who should consider the Twelve 660?

The 660 makes most sense for someone who wants an integrated-bracelet watch with a notably slim profile and is comfortable with manual winding and a two-hand display. Its dimensions, restrained dial and thin case are the central proposition; buyers seeking an automatic movement, a date, a seconds hand or a more water-capable everyday watch should weigh those absences carefully.

For a useful comparison with another watch, focus on case height and lug-to-lug, movement type, display functions, water-resistance rating, and whether the quoted price includes a bracelet or strap. Those are the relevant differences established for the Twelve 660; no controlled competitor comparison or current price comparison is available here.
