The OMEGA Speedmaster 60th Anniversary Limited Edition, reference 311.10.39.30.01.001, is the standalone 38.6 mm commemorative watch introduced in 2017. Fratello Watches’ contemporary hands-on report describes its vintage-inspired case details, Hesalite crystal and original presentation; Sotheby’s catalogue identifies the stainless-steel chronograph’s calibre 1861. It is distinct from the smaller-run Speedmaster included in OMEGA’s three-watch Trilogy box.

What the 60th Anniversary Speedmaster commemorates

In 2017, OMEGA introduced its 1957 Trilogy to mark 60 years of the Speedmaster, Seamaster 300 and Railmaster. The Speedmaster covered here is reference 311.10.39.30.01.001, a standalone edition rather than simply the Speedmaster from the boxed set. Fratello’s March 23, 2017 hands-on account presents it as a re-edition drawing on the design of the original-era models. Read Fratello’s hands-on report; OMEGA’s Trilogy anniversary context is also described by OMEGA.

What the watch is like

Case and crystal

Fratello reports a 38.6 mm case and a Hesalite crystal. Its account also calls attention to a stepped caseback detail intended to recall the older models. These are the dimensions and features reported for this reference; the sources cited here do not establish additional measurements such as thickness or lug width.

Movement and construction

Sotheby’s catalogue identifies reference 311.10.39.30.01.001 as a limited-edition stainless-steel chronograph powered by calibre 1861, a mechanical movement with 18 jewels. Its listing documents a circa-2017 example and supports identification of the exact reference, but is not a substitute for an official technical sheet or a complete specification. How many were made—and which edition is which?

The edition counts are easy to confuse because OMEGA offered both a standalone watch and a version as part of the 1957 Trilogy box. Fratello reported these distinctions in 2017:

Version Reported production Caseback distinction 2017 reported retail price
Standalone Speedmaster, ref. 311.10.39.30.01.001 3,557 pieces Standalone version; Fratello notes the Trilogy-set watch has a different caseback. CHF 6,700, excluding sales taxes
Speedmaster included in the 1957 Trilogy box 557 pieces Different caseback from the standalone version, according to Fratello. Part of a CHF 20,000 Trilogy box, excluding taxes; this is the set price, not a standalone Speedmaster price.

These are launch-era figures reported by Fratello in 2017, not present-day prices or a current inventory count. The 557-piece figure applies to the Speedmaster supplied in the Trilogy box; it should not be used as the production number for the standalone reference.

What came with the standalone watch?

Fratello’s hands-on account says the standalone presentation included a NATO strap, a leather strap and a watch roll. The article also mentions a changing tool with the Trilogy set. That distinction matters: the evidence supports the standalone package contents listed here, but does not establish what an individual pre-owned example still has, whether replacement accessories are currently available, or which aftermarket straps will fit.

What did it cost at launch, and what is it worth now?

Fratello reported a 2017 retail price of CHF 6,700 excluding sales taxes for the standalone watch. The CHF 20,000 figure reported for that year was the price of the Trilogy box, also excluding taxes—not the standalone Speedmaster. These historical retail prices cannot establish current resale value. Sotheby’s 2023 catalogue records an individual example but does not, on its own, establish a market price, reliable trend or current availability.

Accordingly, the sources cited here do not support a current valuation or a prediction that the watch has appreciated. Anyone considering a purchase should assess a specific example and its documentation, condition and included accessories against current specialist-market listings; no price estimate is established in the cited material.

Is it likely to become collectible?

The watch has clear collector-facing attributes: a defined limited run, a commemorative connection to OMEGA’s 1957 models and a documented distinction from the Trilogy-box edition. Those features explain its appeal, but they do not establish future demand or investment performance. A 2017 opinion about collectibility would not be evidence of what the watch has done since, and the available catalogue record is not enough to make that forecast.
