Its published specs include a 39 mm case, Miyota 9039 movement and 10 ATM water resistance. WatchTime reviewer Martin Green found it comfortable and readable in his hands-on review; those are his impressions, not independent test results.
Why the Futurist looks like a 1970s watch from the future
Vario describes the design as inspired by the “bold spirit of 1970s space-age design.” WatchTime’s Martin Green connects it more specifically to the space race. The result is not a conventional vintage reissue: it draws on an era when watches often treated the future as something angular, expressive and a little theatrical.
The defining feature is the faceted sapphire crystal. Rather than presenting a plain flat window, its cut surfaces catch light at changing angles. Green called the crystal the watch’s main attraction and observed playful reflections that, in his experience, did not impede reading the time. The textured, grooved steel case adds another sculptural detail, while faceted lugs angle downward. A crown at 12 o’clock helps the watch depart from the usual wristwatch silhouette.
Color is part of the effect. Green described a wine-red sunburst dial that darkens toward its edge. The available color and edition descriptions vary by source and listing: his November 2025 review identified red, green and blue as 100-piece limited editions and silver as unlimited, while Vario’s official black and blue listings describe those versions as limited to 100 pieces. Check the specific variant’s current product page and stock before buying.

Green also reports that the 9039 has hacking seconds, meaning the seconds hand stops when the crown is pulled to set the time. Vario’s listing confirms the movement family and broad reserve specification, but does not state hacking seconds in the cited product details.

How it wears, according to WatchTime
Green calls the Futurist “pleasantly proportioned” and “very comfortable to wear.” He points to the 39 mm diameter, 10 mm height, flat caseback and top-mounted crown as part of that experience. Those comments are a reviewer’s on-wrist assessment, not a universal fit guarantee: wrist shape and personal preferences still matter, and the 48 mm lug-to-lug measurement can help readers compare it with watches they already wear.
His legibility impression is similarly specific: despite the crystal’s reflections, he found the time easy to read. The faceted surface is a visual choice as much as a functional one, so anyone who strongly prefers an optically plain crystal may value the look differently.

Price, variants and buying details
Vario’s product page displayed a price of $648 USD when accessed on October 8, 2026; WatchTime reported the same price in its November 8, 2025 review. The official page also simultaneously labels $368 USD as the regular price, making its pricing presentation internally inconsistent. Confirm the live checkout amount and the exact variant before placing an order.
Vario’s listing states a two-year international warranty, a 14-day return policy, and free worldwide express shipping to most countries. It also says customers are responsible for duties and taxes, with some listed destinations tax-inclusive. These purchase terms can depend on destination and may change; check the current terms for your location.

The listed lug width is 20 mm, which is useful when searching for a replacement or alternate-style strap. That measurement alone does not establish compatibility with any particular third-party strap or attachment, so verify the connection before ordering one.
