The Typsim 200M is a modern dive watch with a distinct mid-1950s look: a silver-gilt dial, rounded luminous markers, domed acrylic crystal and riveted steel bracelet. Its stated 200 m water resistance and Sellita SW300-1 movement bring contemporary specifications, but the acrylic and bracelet hardware shape the ownership experience. It is discontinued and sold out on Typsim’s site, so the US$1,199 price quoted in Fratello’s 2024 review is historical, not a current offer.
A modern watch with a mid-century point of view
In his August 24, 2024 hands-on review, Thomas Stover of Fratello presents the 200M as a vintage-inspired tool watch, not a vintage watch. Its design cues are deliberate: a silver-gilt dial, rounded luminous markers, a domed acrylic crystal and a five-link bracelet with rivets. Fratello describes the dial’s effect as subtle but sharp, giving the watch an elegance it finds unusual among less-authentic homage-style tool watches.
The dial is silver plated and selectively coated with black lacquer, leaving silver visible at the logo, minute track and luminous indices. Typsim calls it negative-relief silver gilt with satin black lacquer. The manufacturer says the luminous compound, developed with RC Tritec, is nonradioactive and intended to age toward a creamy-yellow color; that future patina is a manufacturer-stated intention, not an independently established result.

These figures come from Typsim’s product page. Fratello reports a 47.7 mm lug-to-lug measurement, slightly longer than the manufacturer’s published 47.5 mm. That small discrepancy is worth noting when comparing dimensions, though wrist shape and bracelet fit also affect how a watch wears.

Movement: chronometer-grade, but not certified
The SW300-1 is the 200M’s automatic movement, with Typsim listing a 42-hour reserve, 26 jewels and a 4 Hz beat rate. Fratello describes it as chronometer-grade while explicitly noting that the watch is not officially chronometer-certified. Those terms are not interchangeable: the standard Typsim 200M should not be described as a certified chronometer.
What the hands-on review found
Dial and wrist comfort
Stover praised the distinctive dial and reported that the watch felt comfortable on his wrist. That is one reviewer’s firsthand impression, not a consensus about how it will fit every wearer.

Acrylic needs a different care expectation
The domed acrylic crystal is central to the watch’s period-inspired appearance. Stover notes that acrylic can scratch relatively easily and that scratches can be polished; his review sample included polishing paste. That is an observation about his sample and does not guarantee that every owner will receive paste or get the same result. The bezel insert is acrylic too, so buyers should consider the material’s care needs across both visible surfaces.
Bracelet sizing is the clearest practical drawback
The bracelet uses small post-and-screw bars in its removable links. Stover found them frustrating to work with and not confidence-inspiring if a pin loosens. He said the bracelet felt comfortable once sized, but suggested he might personally choose an aftermarket bracelet or strap instead. Treat that as his experience rather than a claim about widespread owner problems.

Straps, fit and replacement parts
The 20 mm lug width makes a 20 mm strap a reasonable starting point when searching for alternatives, and Fratello notes that the watch has drilled lugs to facilitate strap changes. Check the fit of the strap or bracelet’s end links against the actual lugs before buying; width alone does not confirm compatibility.
Typsim’s official store lists replacement crystal and bezel items, but the available listing does not establish current stock or prices. Confirm availability directly before relying on those parts as a repair option.

Availability and price context
Fratello’s 2024 review reported a US$1,199 retail price and expected shipping in November or December 2024. Those are review-era details. Typsim’s product page now marks the 200M sold out and says “DISCONTINUED: January 2026”; the brand’s archive collection also groups it among archived models. The old retail price should not be read as a current buying opportunity.
