Dial colors and model timeline
Launch colors
The 114300 arrived at Baselworld 2015 with dark rhodium, red grape and blue dials, according to the reference guide at Rolexopedia. “Red grape” is the documented factory color name; descriptions of its appearance as purple should not be mistaken for a separate official dial name.

Later additions and catalogue history
Black and white dials followed in 2018. The product sheet linked above is for a white-dial variant, so it supports reference-level specifications but does not establish the dial on every 114300. Rolexopedia’s August and September 2020 catalogue snapshots bracket the reference’s removal during the Oyster Perpetual refresh, when the 41 mm 124300 appeared. Those snapshots do not establish the exact date the last 114300 left production.
What the Oyster Perpetual 39 cost new
There is no single launch price that applies to every market. Contemporary reports give different prices and qualifications:
| Market and date | Reported price | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Japan, 2015 | ¥540,000 before tax | Gressive’s Baselworld report described this as a preliminary price, with release planned for summer 2015; its note says the information reflects June 2015 and warns that some prices exclude tax. Gressive |
| United Kingdom, July 2015 | £3,750 | Time Transformed reported this as the 39 mm version’s starting price. Time Transformed |
| Retail reference, January 2020 | Approximately $6,000 | WatchCharts listed this as authorized-dealer retail, not as the 2015 launch price. WatchCharts |
These reports refer to different markets and dates. They should not be treated as directly comparable prices or combined into a universal launch MSRP.

For a specific watch, compare examples with the same dial and similar condition, and account for originality, service history, box and papers, location and seller. The model-level estimate alone cannot establish what an individual example will sell for.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How the 114300 differs from today’s Oyster Perpetuals
The 2015 39 mm reference’s movement is calibre 3132, as stated in its own Rolex brochure. It should not be confused with the movements in the current collection: Rolex’s current collection page lists calibre 3230 for current 36 mm and 41 mm models, and calibre 2232 for current 28 mm, 31 mm and 34 mm models. The modern lineup’s specifications do not replace those of the discontinued 114300.
Rolex describes the Oyster Perpetual as “the chronometer wristwatch in its purest form,” referring to its display of hours, minutes and seconds and its finish. That is Rolex’s own collection description, not an independent assessment of the 114300.
Quick Recap
What to check when considering a pre-owned example
- Confirm the reference and dial: check that the watch is a 114300 and identify its actual dial color rather than assuming all examples match the white-dial product sheet.
- Assess condition and originality: case, bracelet, dial and components can affect the value of an individual watch.
- Review service history and completeness: note any documented service and whether the box and papers are included.
- Compare local asking prices carefully: market, seller and condition matter; a model-level estimate is not a promised sale price.
