In his May 15, 2023 hands-on review, Jorg Weppelink found the blue versions the stronger fit for the collection’s Caribbean look, while noting that the 43 mm case and 53 mm lug-to-lug span may not suit smaller wrists. Those are his design and fit impressions, not universal judgments.
How the three references differ
Weppelink’s May 2023 review describes three distinct dial treatments on a shared case design. The black model also differs in its DLC-coated case finish. The historical prices below are the launch prices reported in that article, not current quotes.

The color choice is the clearest distinction between the two steel references. The black 2860.3NY makes a more noticeable material and finish change as well as switching to a dark dial. Weppelink preferred the blue pair for their Caribbean aesthetic; whether that makes either one more appealing is a matter of taste.
Shared dimensions, functions and wrist fit
The 2023 article reports a 43 mm case diameter, 53 mm lug-to-lug length, 15.8 mm thickness and 20 mm lug spacing for the watches. It also lists a sapphire crystal and 200 m water resistance. With its broad lug-to-lug span and substantial thickness, this is not a small or low-profile diver-style watch. Weppelink cautioned that the dimensions may not work well for smaller wrists; wrist shape and preferred fit vary, so trying one on is the most reliable way to judge.

The listed functions are hours, minutes, central seconds, date and a 60-minute internal timing bezel. The bezel is operated with a separate crown and release button, rather than by simply turning it as a conventional external dive bezel would.
Straps and bracelet affect the feel
According to Weppelink, the watches came with a contrasting rubber strap and an additional leather strap, with an optional Staib Milanese-style mesh bracelet also available. He found the mesh-equipped version notably heavy and the rubber strap more manageable. That is a useful distinction if you are deciding how you would actually wear the watch: the bracelet adds weight, while the supplied strap options offer a different balance on the wrist.

Movement claims depend on reference and version
There is a material discrepancy between the movement information in the 2023 hands-on review and Cuervo y Sobrinos’ official manual. Weppelink says the updated models he covered use automatic calibre CYS 8126, based on the Soprod P024, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a 38-hour power reserve. The official manual for a Buceador Caribe instead identifies calibre CYS 5104 and also states a 38-hour reserve. It lists hours, minutes, centre seconds and date.
Because those calibre numbers differ, neither description should be assumed to apply to every Buceador Caribe or every production version. Confirm the exact reference and movement with the seller or the brand before relying on a movement specification.

Current price and availability
The launch figures above are historical. When accessed, Cuervo y Sobrinos’ US collection page showed Buceador Caribe models at $5,100. That is a US-market page snapshot, not a guarantee of today’s price or stock; check the official Buceador collection for current listings. The historical euro launch prices and the later US page price reflect different time and market contexts, so they are not directly comparable like-for-like offers.

The official Buceador Caribe manual specifies a lock-and-release action for the internal bezel. It also gives operating cautions that matter more than the mechanism’s convenience:

- Do not make any settings underwater.
- Hold down the bezel release button before turning the bezel crown; do not rotate the crown while the bezel remains locked.
- Do not set the date while the hands are between 9:00 p.m. and 12:30 a.m.
- Unscrew the crown before manipulating it, then use the crown positions described in the manual to set the date or time.
The manual’s calibre identification is CYS 5104, so check that it applies to the exact watch and version in hand before treating it as reference-specific operating documentation.

Which one makes sense for you?
- Choose the 2860.1BL if you prefer a dark navy dial with red and sand details in a stainless-steel case.
- Choose the 2860.1LB if you want the lighter gradient blue dial and its white and red accents, also in stainless steel.
- Choose the 2860.3NY if you prefer a black dial with yellow and white details and a black DLC-coated case.
- Consider the strap before committing. The reviewer found the mesh bracelet notably heavy compared with the more manageable rubber strap.
- Check the fit on your wrist. The reported 53 mm lug-to-lug measurement is especially worth considering if you usually find large watches overhang your wrist.
- Verify the movement by exact reference and production version. The 2023 review and official manual do not identify the same calibre.
