Rolex introduced the Land-Dweller in 2025 in 36 mm and 40 mm sizes. Three launch examples show how substantially the collection changes across those dimensions: a 40 mm white Rolesor model, a 40 mm platinum model and a diamond-set 36 mm Everose gold model. The firsthand impressions below are Michael Stockton’s, reported by Fratello after handling the watches at Watches and Wonders 2025—not our own testing.
Three launch models, three different looks
Rolex’s 2025 launch announcement presented the Land-Dweller in two case sizes and several combinations of metal, dial and setting. These three examples illustrate the range rather than every possible configuration.

Rolex describes the Land-Dweller’s integrated bracelet as the Flat Jubilee. The bracelet meets the Oyster case in what the brand calls a continuous visual flow. Rolex also highlights the honeycomb dial motif and a transparent case back; words such as “bold” and “innovative” are the company’s design framing, not independent measurements.
What the hands-on report says—and does not say
At Watches and Wonders 2025, Fratello’s Michael Stockton handled a 40 mm steel Land-Dweller, a 40 mm platinum version and a 36 mm Everose gold diamond-set model. He said the examples gave the team a good feel for the range and praised Rolex’s finishing, while noting that none of the three would be his choice. That is one writer’s response to these particular watches, not a general verdict on their quality or how either size will wear on every wrist.

The comparison is useful because it puts the size and material choices alongside one another, but it cannot decide fit for an individual buyer. The evidence here does not establish which case size suits a particular wrist; trying on the watch is the practical way to judge its proportions and integrated bracelet in person.
Calibre 7135 and Rolex’s published specifications
Rolex identifies calibre 7135 as the movement used in both the 36 mm and 40 mm Land-Dweller. The company describes it as a self-winding mechanical movement developed and manufactured entirely by Rolex, with a Dynapulse escapement and a frequency of 5 Hz, or 36,000 beats per hour. Rolex says that the high frequency is why the seconds hand moves “particularly smoothly” on the Land-Dweller.

- Power reserve: approximately 66 hours, according to Rolex.
- Water resistance: 100 m (330 ft), according to Rolex.
- Precision: Rolex states a finished-watch tolerance of −2/+2 seconds per day for its Superlative Chronometer certification. This is the manufacturer’s stated standard, not an independent measurement of the examples in the hands-on report.
- Patent activity: Rolex reports 32 patent applications and patents pertaining to the Land-Dweller; 18 are exclusive to the watch, and 16 of those concern its movement.
Which version is worth trying on?
The choice among these three is primarily about case size, precious metal, dial and setting—not a demonstrated difference in movement or core published specifications. All three share the Land-Dweller collection’s integrated-bracelet approach and calibre 7135.
- Consider the 40 mm white Rolesor model if you want the larger case and the contrast of Oystersteel with white gold, without the diamond setting described for the Everose example.
- Consider the 40 mm platinum model if the larger size appeals and you prefer platinum paired with an ice-blue dial.
- Consider the 36 mm Everose gold model if you prefer the smaller case and specifically want its diamond hour markers and diamond-set bezel.
These are distinctions among the launch examples, not claims that one is objectively more comfortable or better suited to a wrist. Rolex’s current regional prices, stock and waiting times are not established here; check with a Rolex boutique or authorized retailer for market-specific availability, and try the relevant size on before deciding.
