The De Ville Trésor pairs a slim-watch heritage that OMEGA dates to 1949 with modern references featuring manual-winding Master Chronometer movements. Its formal, restrained character may draw less attention than the brand’s sportier lines, but the available evidence does not establish how large that attention gap is.
Why the Trésor deserves a closer look
OMEGA describes the slim Trésor line as first launched in 1949 and associated with a 30 mm calibre. That is the brand’s own historical account, not an independently quantified measure of the collection’s influence. In 2019, OMEGA presented a modern 40 mm steel Trésor as a continuation of that slim, elegant identity, equipped with a manual-winding Master Chronometer movement.

The appeal is a different expression of the brand from the familiar sports-watch brief: formal styling, leather straps in the cited men’s selection, and movements that make winding part of the ownership experience on some references. Those traits give the Trésor a clear reason to be considered even if a dress watch is not the first OMEGA that comes to mind.
What “overlooked” can—and cannot—mean
In an August 2024 r/OmegaWatches discussion, one reader asked, “Why is the DeVille so slept on in the dress watch category?” That wording is evidence of a conversation, not a representative survey. Commenters suggested that formal styling, size, polished cases, and attention to sportier watches might explain the perception; these are subjective impressions.
The sources reviewed do not provide comparative sales, search-volume, market-share, or brand-awareness figures. So it is reasonable to call the Trésor overlooked in some enthusiast conversations, but not to claim that the market as a whole ignores it or that it is objectively underperforming.
There is no single Trésor specification
Regional collection pages describe different ranges. OMEGA Japan’s catalogue shows men’s and women’s models in 36–40 mm sizes, with gold or stainless-steel cases and fabric or leather straps. OMEGA Hong Kong’s men’s selection describes 40 mm steel or 18K gold cases on leather straps. Neither description should be read as a specification for every past or current reference.

Even two modern steel models can differ in movement and features. OMEGA’s Hong Kong product page identifies reference 435.13.40.21.02.001 as a 40 mm steel watch with calibre 8910. A steel power-reserve reference is described with calibre 8934. Do not transfer one model’s movement or complication to another just because both carry the Trésor name.
| Comparison point | What to verify | What the cited OMEGA pages establish |
|---|---|---|
| Size and profile | Diameter, thickness, and how the case sits under a cuff | Regional listings show 36–40 mm across the broader Japan collection and 40 mm for the cited Hong Kong men’s selection; a complete thickness comparison is not stated. |
| Movement and winding | Exact calibre, winding type, and whether the watch has a power-reserve display | Calibre 8910 is listed for reference 435.13.40.21.02.001; calibre 8934 is described for a steel power-reserve reference. These are reference-specific details. |
| Materials and dial | Case metal and the exact dial finish | The cited pages include steel and gold options, but the precise configuration depends on the reference. |
| Strap | Supplied strap and compatibility before considering a replacement | The Hong Kong men’s selection describes leather straps; Japan’s broader catalogue includes leather and fabric options. |
What the modern movements add
For the specific power-reserve reference using calibre 8934, OMEGA says the movement undergoes eight METAS tests and gives a 0/+5 seconds-per-day criterion. This is a claim on that model’s page; it should not be generalized to every Trésor, including vintage watches or other modern references.

A manual-winding model also asks for a different routine from an automatic: the owner winds it rather than relying on wrist motion to replenish its power. For some buyers, that daily interaction is part of the appeal; for others, it is less convenient. Check the winding type and any complication on the exact reference you are considering.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose a reference
- Start with the reference number. Use OMEGA’s product page or regional catalogue for that exact watch, rather than relying on collection-level descriptions.
- Choose the size and case material. Compare diameter and, where a verified product sheet provides it, thickness. Decide between steel and precious metal based on the look and use you want.
- Check movement and display. Confirm calibre and winding type, then see whether the model adds a power-reserve indication. Do not assume these features are shared across steel references.
- Assess the dial and strap as a complete design. Dial treatment and strap material can change the watch’s character. Treat the cited leather-strap configuration as specific to the relevant listing, not a universal rule.
- Confirm the local price and availability. Use a live listing for your region and exact reference; catalogue prices and model ranges can change.
Price depends on reference and market
OMEGA Japan’s catalogue showed ¥1,298,000 for a steel 40 mm listing when accessed on 2026-10-08. That is a regional, time-specific catalogue snapshot—not a global price or a guarantee that the same listing remains available. Check OMEGA’s current local listing for the model you want.
