The Hautlence HLRQ-05 pairs a 44 mm black-and-orange case with a jumping hour and retrograde-minute display: the minute hand sweeps across its scale, then returns to zero as the hour changes. Monochrome Watches’ review, published on 30 April 2015, reported a 40-hour power reserve and a price of €35,000 at that time. That price is historical, not a current quote, and current stock or market value has not been verified.
What the HLRQ-05 is
The HLRQ-05 belongs to Hautlence’s round HLRQ line, whose colorful, sporty styling contrasts with the brand’s more restrained or rectangular designs. Its most immediately recognizable details are the vivid orange case horns and the exposed, unconventional time display. Monochrome Watches described the watch as playful and assertive; those are the reviewer’s impressions rather than measurable specifications.
The specifications and construction below are those reported in Monochrome Watches’ 2015 review. They have not been independently reconfirmed against a current manufacturer specification page.
How the jumping hour and retrograde minute work
Reading the time
The hour appears in a display on the left side of the dial. Minutes are shown by a hand moving across a scale; after reaching 60, it snaps back to 0. At that same instant, the jumping-hour indication advances. The paired change makes the transition between hours part of the watch’s mechanical display rather than a conventional continuously advancing minute hand and hour hand.

Layered sapphire dial
Partially tinted sapphire elements, printed tracks and discs form a layered dial. The arrangement reveals parts of the mechanism while framing the time indications, giving the face visual depth. The review also reports a quick-correct date operated by a pusher at 12 o’clock.
Case, materials and fit
| Feature | Details reported by Monochrome Watches in 2015 |
|---|---|
| Diameter | 44 mm |
| Height | 12.5 mm |
| Central case | Brushed grade 2 titanium with black DLC coating |
| Bezel | Bevelled stainless steel with black DLC coating |
| Horns | Four orange-varnished stainless-steel horns, screwed to the central body |
| Crystals | Anti-reflective-coated sapphire front crystal and sapphire exhibition back |
| Strap | Hand-sewn, rolled-edge Louisiana alligator leather with a rubberized finish |
| Buckle options | Pin buckle or folding clasp in black DLC-coated grade 2 titanium |
The 44 mm diameter makes this a substantial round watch on paper; wrist presence will also depend on the wearer and how the case and horns sit. The 12.5 mm height is the review’s reported measurement, not a current manufacturer-confirmed figure.
