Apple Watch Series 10: which deal made sense?
42mm GPS: the lowest-cost choice
At $329, the 42mm GPS model was the clearest value for buyers who already carry an iPhone and mainly want activity tracking, notifications, health features, and Apple Watch apps without paying for cellular connectivity. Its smaller case is generally a better fit for smaller wrists, though the display is also smaller than the 46mm version.

46mm GPS: the larger-display upgrade
The 46mm GPS model at $359 cost $30 more than the 42mm watch while offering the largest Series 10 display. Choose it if readability, typing, and on-wrist interaction matter more than the smaller case. Fit should come first: a larger display is not an advantage if the case is uncomfortable.
GPS versus GPS + Cellular
GPS models can perform many functions away from the iPhone when connected to Wi-Fi, but they are not the best choice for phone-free connectivity. GPS + Cellular models can support calls, messages, streaming, and other connected functions away from the iPhone when activated on a compatible carrier plan.
The 46mm cellular model reported at $449 was attractive when the price premium was acceptable. However, the purchase price is only part of the cost: a recurring carrier charge may outweigh the discount for someone who rarely leaves the iPhone behind. Check carrier compatibility and activation requirements before ordering.
Titanium models
The titanium cellular models—$629 for 42mm and $659 for 46mm—were aimed at buyers who valued the material and finish. They were not the low-cost way to obtain Series 10 functionality. Aluminum GPS models delivered the stronger value proposition for most shoppers.

Case color and band selection can change the price or availability. Confirm the band size, style, case material, and whether the listing is factory-sealed before paying.
Apple Watch condition, warranty, and compatibility
New, open-box, and refurbished are different categories. A Best Buy open-box watch priced around $263–$314 could be cheaper than the new $329 model, but the condition grade, included charger and band, battery condition, return window, and warranty must be checked on that specific listing. Do not assume an open-box item has the same coverage as factory-sealed stock.
Woot listings in later 2025 coverage were described as carrying a one-year Apple warranty, but that does not establish identical coverage for every retailer or listing. Use “Apple warranty” only when the product page explicitly confirms it, and check the serial number and coverage after delivery where possible.
Apple’s required iPhone model and operating-system versions can change. Verify current compatibility on Apple’s official Apple Watch buying page and support documentation before purchasing an older-generation watch in 2026.

M4 MacBook Pro deals
14-inch M4 at $1,399
The 14-inch M4 model with 16GB memory and a 512GB SSD was the value MacBook Pro option in the reported sale. It suited general productivity, schoolwork, coding, office applications, photography, and moderate video editing. Its smaller chassis also made it easier to carry than the 16-inch models.
The advertised price could depend on clipping an on-page coupon. Always check the product page and checkout total; a search-result price may not include the coupon or may reflect an expired promotion.
16-inch M4 Pro at $2,249
The headline MacBook deal was a specific 16-inch M4 Pro configuration with 24GB unified memory and a 512GB SSD, reduced from a reported $2,499 list price. It was a strong fit for sustained professional workloads, large software builds, demanding photo or video projects, virtual machines, containers, and buyers who wanted the larger workspace.
It was not directly comparable with the 14-inch M4 simply because both carried the M4 name. The 16-inch model cost more, weighed more, and was less portable; its value came from the M4 Pro chip, larger display, and configuration rather than the discount percentage alone.

M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max
The base M4 was the sensible choice for most users. M4 Pro made more sense when compilation, media work, external displays, fast storage, or multitasking regularly pushed beyond ordinary laptop workloads. M4 Max was intended for genuinely GPU-heavy work such as advanced video production, 3D, data science, and large local models.
A $400 reduction on an M4 Max configuration could still represent poor value for web, office, school, and light creative work because the final price remained high. Buy the performance you will use, not simply the largest discount.
Memory and storage are part of the deal
Read the complete specification before comparing prices. A 16GB/512GB 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro and a 24GB/512GB 16-inch M4 Pro are different products. Memory affects how comfortably demanding applications and large projects run at once; storage affects the amount of local media, applications, virtual machines, and project files you can keep available.

Apple’s launch materials identify three Thunderbolt 4 ports on the 14-inch M4 model, while M4 Pro and M4 Max models add Thunderbolt 5. The M4 MacBook Pro introduced a 12MP Center Stage camera and an optional nano-texture display. Apple claimed up to 24 hours of battery life, but that is a maximum under Apple’s testing conditions and varies with configuration, software, brightness, and workload. Apple announced Apple Intelligence support alongside the M4 MacBook Pro, initially tied to macOS Sequoia 15.1 and language and region requirements. Current availability and requirements should be checked against Apple’s software documentation rather than assumed from the 2024 launch announcement.
Other deals in the original roundup
The wider January roundup also included discounts on iPad cases and keyboards, iPhone cases, Apple Watch Ultra 2, M2 iPad Air, iPad mini, USB-C cables, power banks, Satechi workstation accessories, cleaning appliances, and other accessories.
Those were secondary deals, not substitutes for the main Apple Watch and MacBook decisions. Accessory prices are especially susceptible to color, compatibility, stock, and model-year changes, so verify the exact product before buying. The related January 30 coverage is archived at 9to5Mac.
Retailer checks before you buy
- Amazon: Confirm that the item is new, identify the seller and shipper, check coupon requirements, and verify that warranty coverage is valid in your region.
- B&H: Compare the exact configuration and confirm stock, shipping, tax treatment, and return terms.
- Woot: Check condition, warranty language, shipping charges, and whether free shipping depends on Prime membership. Limited inventory can disappear quickly.
- Best Buy open-box: Inspect the condition grade, included accessories, battery state, return policy, and warranty before choosing the lower price.
- Apple: The Apple Watch store and MacBook Pro store generally offer predictable configuration, support, financing, and trade-in options, but are not necessarily the cheapest upfront. Apple Trade In values are device- and condition-specific at Apple’s trade-in page.
How the prices aged
Later coverage dated August 11, 2025 reported cellular Series 10 watches at approximately $350 and $380 on Woot, and a base M4 Pro MacBook Pro at $1,699.99 after an on-page Amazon coupon. Those figures are historical benchmarks, not current prices, but they show why “sale price” and “historical low” need dates attached. A January 2025 discount may no longer be compelling if newer Apple hardware is available for similar money in 2026.
The January deal article described some prices as lows tracked by the deal publisher. That means a historical low within its tracking context—not necessarily an all-time market record.
Decision guide
- Spend the least on an Apple Watch: Choose the 42mm GPS Series 10 if it fits your wrist and you carry an iPhone.
- Get the largest display without cellular: Choose the 46mm GPS model.
- Leave the iPhone behind: Choose GPS + Cellular only if the convenience justifies a recurring carrier plan.
- Prioritize material and finish: Consider titanium, but do not buy it solely for a discount.
- Buy a MacBook Pro for everyday work: The 14-inch M4 is the sensible value configuration.
- Run demanding professional workloads: Step up to M4 Pro, with memory and storage matched to the work.
- Use sustained GPU-heavy applications: Consider M4 Max only when its additional capability is genuinely needed.
For any listing, calculate the effective price after coupons, membership fees, shipping, tax, cellular service, and trade-in assumptions. Then adjust the comparison for condition and warranty. That is more useful than comparing the headline discount alone.
